Addie’s brow rose. “Fine.”
“Fine,” Sutton stated as she folded her arms.
“Fine!”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake, Addie and Sutton,” Gannon cut in. “It’s like watching a tennis match. Kiss her already, Brody.”
I cleared my throat. “Fine.”
The whole table groaned.
Sutton and I turned to face one another. I cupped the side of her face with my hand and watched as she licked her lips. My cock jumped in my pants.
“We’re waiting,” Addie singsonged.
“I hate you right now,” Sutton whispered, side-eying her sister. She looked up at me. “Okay, let’s do this so they stop.”
My eyes drifted down to Sutton’s perfectly pouted lips. I could still taste her from our earlier kiss. And the memory of our kisses all those years ago.
Only one way to find out, Brody. You’ve got to kiss your wife.
I leaned in and pressed my mouth to Sutton’s. My tongue swept over her lips, and she opened for me. When I deepened the kiss, she brought her hand to my face, then slid it around to the back of my neck. She dug her fingers into my hair, and I nearly moaned.
The kiss didn’t feel fake. It felt fucking amazing, and I never wanted to stop feeling her tongue move against mine in a delicate dance.
We both pulled back at the same time, and when our eyes met, I couldn’t help but wonder if she’d felt it. That pull. The longing to be connected as one. That same feeling we both felt all those years ago.
My chest rose and fell as I attempted to catch my breath. One quick glance at Sutton’s chest proved she was searching for air as well.
“Jesus. That was one hell of a kiss,” Gannon said. “Are you two sure you’re not…you know…”
“Gannon,” Addie whispered. “Stop teasing.”
Sutton blinked a few times, then slowly sat back in her seat. She smiled and said, “See, we can totally pull off passionate. No problem at all.” She picked up her fork, cut off a piece of her cinnamon bun, and popped it in her mouth. As if that kiss hadn’t rocked her world like it had mine.
I sat back, and when my eyes met Gannon’s, I saw the understanding there. He gave me a half smile and then reached for his orange juice. “I suggest your next stop be the parents’. About fifteen people just witnessed the two of you kissing. Rumors are going to start.”
“Right. We’ll do that as soon as we’re done here,” Sutton agreed.
“Yeah.” It was all I could say.
Addie must have sensed the tension in the air because she quickly launched into something about the wedding and asked for Sutton’s advice. They soon got lost in conversation.
“You okay?” Gannon asked quietly as the girls continued to talk.
“Perfectly fine.”
Fucking hell. Now I sounded like Sutton.
He nodded. “You never could lie very well, Brody.”
