“Did you spend the night or didn’t you, Frankie?”

Frankie exhaled. Up to that point, Taymar had no idea that she was spending more time with Robert. “Yes, alright? But not like you mean.”

“What other way could I possibly mean?” Then Taymar realized what Frankie was saying. “Are you trying to tell me that you spent the night with Robert Marris, that you slept in his bed all night long, and no sex was involved?”

“That’s right.”

Taymar was shaking her head. “I don’t believe you.”

“Don’t believe me then.”

“Frankie, that man didn’t touch you once for real?”

“Not last night, no.”

When she quantified it, Taymar cocked her mouth sideways. “Not last night? Then when? This morning?”

“Why can’t a man and a woman spend the night together and nothing happens? Why isn’t that possible anymore?”

“Because it’s not.”

“Says who?”

“Everybody,” Taymar said as the microwave sounded and she got the bowl of food out and walked over and sat at the table with Frankie. “It’s the rule of the dating road.”

As the two friends continued to debate the matter, the front door that Taymar was too rushed to get to the bathroom to lock when she first arrived, was eased open. And Resident Pervert Cole Lindsey peeped inside, and then came on in.

He could hear the voices in the kitchen area, away from the living room, and he took that opportunity to tiptoe his way across the living room and down the hall to Frankie’s bedroom. When he got in the bedroom and saw that her bed was unmade, he smiled. Finally he was exactly where he wanted to be!

As he could still hear the ladies talking in the kitchen area, he laid on the bed, closed his eyes, and enjoyed the perfumed smell of Frankie’s lingered scent. And he thought of what it was going to be like to be with Frankie. To finally fulfill his deepest fantasy.

But upfront, Frankie and Taymar had no idea an uninvited visitor was in the home. They were too busy arguing about dating expectations.

“A man like Robert Marris is not going to wine and dine any woman without getting something out of the deal,” Taymar said. “That’s just a fact, Frankie.”

“And you know this how?”

“Because I saw the way he was looking at you when you came out of that room that night.”

Frankie was confused. “What night?”

“The night of your first date with him two months ago. He was looking at you like he wanted to eat you up. And I also saw the way he was checking out my breasts while we were waiting for you to come out of that room.”

Frankie didn’t expect to hear her say anything like that. Her biggest fear was that Robert might not be able to be a one-woman man. She stared at her friend. “What do you mean?”

“Just what I said,” Taymar said between bites. “He likes the ladies. He was doing what men do and was checking me out while he was waiting on you.”

Frankie continued to stare at her friend. Taymar wondered why. “What you looking at me like that for?” Then she realized why. “You think I’m lying?”

Frankie wished she was, but she knew Taymar too well. “No,” she said. “I know you wouldn’t lie about anything like that.”

“You’re hurt because he was checking me out?” Taymar asked. When Frankie didn’t respond, she sat her fork down. “Frankie, you can’t be serious!”

“What are you talking about?”

“That man has one thing and one thing only on his mind. You have got to know that.”

Frankie still didn’t respond. Because Taymar was right. She was hurt.
