“Oh, shit. Shit! He’s going to kill you, Titus. You have to hide.”

Titus scoffed at me. “I do not hide, Ms. Vaughn.”

“Well, you’d better do something, because he’s coming straight through that ward to get you.”

“He can’t,” Sunny peeped from behind Titus. “Can he?”

“I’ve never seen anything that can stop an alpha vampire when he’s crazed for his mate.”

“I should go. I should go to him. Right? Before he tears the whole city apart.”

“Yes, yes, that might be wise.” Titus opened the door for me. But I couldn’t even stay upright.

I tried using the chair to hoist myself off the ground, but the weight of Julian’s emotions pressed down on me like a physical force.

More of Julian’s thoughts drifted into my awareness. How could she betray me? Save her. Kill him.

I moaned, his thought ripping into me, arms wobbling until I was flat on the ground.

“Eden!”

Sunny squeezed out from behind Titus and kneeled at my side. “Eden, if you can sense his emotions, you can probably sense his thoughts too.”

“Already there.”

“Good! Now, I want you to try to project your thoughts to him. Try to calm him down.”

I sighed, a big shuddering breath, and let my eyes fall closed. They flew back open immediately. “I can’t. It’s too much. He’s too powerful.”

“You’ve got to try, Eden. Remember. You’re just as powerful as he is.”

“Yeah, but I’m not wild with rage and trying to find my mate.”

“Eeds, you’ve got to figure this out,” Sunny pleaded softly. She took my hand and squeezed the shit out of it. “You can do this, Eden. I know you can.”
