I pushed that away and focused on getting myself together. Sunny’s mate suite, like mine, had an ensuite bathroom.

Unlike mine, hers had a sauna, meditation room, and a room I dubbed the Velvet Room.

I had no idea what that room was for, but I took advantage of every other part of that glorious bathroom.

I came out almost two hours later, red-faced from the steam and skin shiny and tight from all the different scrubs and soaps I’d tried out.

I foraged in the wardrobe, hoping Titus had it stocked for his future mate with some essentials, so I didn’t have to wear the dress and heels I’d come in. I settled on a sleek pair of black trousers and a lavender blouse that I was pretty sure was silk.

Apparently, Titus didn’t believe in inexpensive essentials. I stepped into a pair of ballet flats, the most comfortable-looking option, and apologized to Sunny. “You should be the first to break in your new mate wardrobe, but I have a feeling you’d sooner dress in a bedsheet than take Titus’s gifts.”

I brushed a lock of hair from her face and leaned in close. “I’ll find a way out of this, Sun, promise. I broke one mate bond, I can do it again.”
