And yet, it didn’t seem like these two were. “Why do you think I don’t tell anyone?”

“Is she helpful?” Luna sounded tired—unlike her.

“So helpful.”

Lunalookedtired, too. “I need some information from her, to help fix things. Will you ask her some questions for me?”

Only if Luna had more information than I did. “You could ask her yourself. She’s friendly and happy to help.”

“No.” The way Luna shook her head, I was worried it might bobble off. “I’d rather people hate you than me if they find out.” She stuck out her tongue. That was almost playful.

“I can ask. But technically if you’re talking through me, you’re still talking to her.”

Luna held up a finger. “Shh shh shh shh shh. Don’t ruin this moment with your anal-retentive logic.”

I snorted a laugh. “Fine. What do you want to know?”

For the next hour or so, Luna and Danny read over my shoulder, asking Fallyn a lot of network security related questions. I understood the basics of what they were discussing, but they were going in a completely different direction than Elliot had been looking. I was impressed they’d reached the conclusions they had, and it seemed the three were making progress.

Before we could finish, a loud shouting came from somewhere in the building.

“Someone’s having a bad day,” Danny muttered.

My desk phone rang, and I hitSpeaker. “Yeah.”

“Someone’s here to see you.” It was Ivan, our office admin and manager.

“You tell that asshole to get the fuck out here, now.” The shout came through Ivan’s end of the line.

It was Easton. Wonderful.

I pushed back from my desk. “I’ll be right there,” I said to Ivan, then disconnected.

“Do you want to call Link before you go out there?” Danny asked.

Link wasn’t a fighter. He was big and well-built, and some people would back down at the sight of him, but he was a sweetheart and there was no reason to put him on the spot with Easton.

“I’m good.” I’d love an excuse, or really just a chance since I already had a good reason, to throw a punch at Easton myself.

When I reached the front of the office, Easton scowled when he saw me, and stalked toward me.

“You cost me everything, you bastard.” The alcohol on his breath was overpowering.

If I lost Megan, I’d be devastated. I couldn’t imagine Easton was capable of that level of awareness. “I didn’t cost you anything. You did this to yourself.”

“Bullshit. You were just looking for an excuse to take her from me.” Was he drunk again at nine am, or still drunk from a night of it?

I shrugged in agreement. “That’s true. Fortunately, you fucking another woman took care of that problem.”

He growled and shoved me hard in the shoulder.

Was it wrong that I wanted to poke the bear a little, and make him really mad? In the lobby of our offices, no less. “Use your words, Easton, not your fists.”

He shoved me again.

“Fuck, your hands are tiny. Is it true what they say about guys with small hands?”

He swung at me, and I ducked. His sloppy, telegraphed punch was a lot easier to avoid than Landon’s had been.
