“Then it’ll have to be a long shower.” I paused as the word flowed easily, waiting for that mental voice to remind me not to get too attached. To point out this would be over soon.

That nagging reminder wasn’t there. I could imagine this lasting forever.

Chapter Twenty

Ispent most of Sundayin bed with Kingston, and it was incredible. Not just the sex, though that was amazing, but his company and everything about the day.

The only thing that would have made it better was Owen being there. How was this my life, that I not only had that option, but there was so little angst between the three of us to agree it was a good next step?

I hated to send Kingston home Monday morning, but we had work. The fact that Owen texted and said he’d be back tonight instead of tomorrow made parting more bearable.

I didn’t try to ignore the anticipation of the evening as I baked for the day.We need to talkhad never been more appealing.

It was my day to balance the books from the week before, and we’d done even better at Saturday’s event than I realized. I’d be making an extra loan payment to the bank this month.

A little before noon, I grabbed myself some lunch—I’d probably had more pastries in the last month than I should have, but today seemed like a good day for another one, to help with paperwork.

Just after two, there was a knock on my office door, and Violet poked her head in. “Do you know Ramsey Miller?”

“Mhm. Why?”

“He’s here to see you, and he asked for Lyn.”

I pushed back from my desk. “I met him a few weeks ago. Nice guy.”

“He’s really not.” Violet scowled.

Weird. “Fill me in, after I talk to him.”

Violet followed me out to the café, where Ramsey sat at one of the tables.

He grinned and stood when he saw me. “Hey. How have you been?”

“Good.”Fantastic. Incredible. Amazing. “You?” I wasn’t close enough with him to give him any more than a polite answer, no matter how much I’d enjoyed his and Ravyn’s company.

“Good. Good. Normally we have a constable deliver these, but I wanted to sayhiand try the coffee and chocolate croissant—amazing but the way.” He handed me an envelope.
