“You said I was good.”
“You were incredible.”
He rested his head against mine. “That does sound like me. When are you going live with this?”
Our not-even thinly veiled conversation about me sleeping with him and his boyfriend? That was for us alone. “This afternoon if I can. That gives me the extra viewership of everyone tuned in for RinCon.” And plenty of time to stress as I waited for the fallout.
“Do it. We’ll take you out after, to keep you distracted.”
I kind of loved how he was in my head right now. “I’m not going to be a lot of fun if I can’t stop thinking about it.” Not just the blowback from Ms. G, but the hate this would earn me, because I’d dared speak up aboutanything.
“We can beverydistracting.”
I adored his confidence. The attention. How much he was doing on my behalf. “You’ve set my expectations high now.”
“Where they deserve to be,” Jax said.
If only I could give all my attention to him—and Grayson—and ignore the holes worry was trying to tear in my soul.
Chapter Ten
Mid-afternoon, I calledit a day from RinCon and headed home. My entireExpose Ms. Gpost was all written up, but I had to add my letter to her, then re-read it again. And then again. Before I recorded my video.
When that was done, I checked it over and over, the need for perfection warring with my desire to act now. It was time to hitpost.
My phone chimed with a new text from Grayson.
Where are you?
Home. Contemplating the fate of my career,I replied.
Knock knock. His text coincided with a knock on my bedroom door, making my heart leap into my throat.
Thank God for a distraction. “Why’d you ask if you knew?” I said as I swung the door open.
“Sorry, what?” Grayson’s gaze drifted up my body, Jax’s doing the same.
