ChapterNine
Lennox
I worked triple time to get caught up so I could get back to Peter. The phone calls and texts are not cutting it anymore. I got my stuff together, hopped a flight, went to the hospital for the interview, and came straight to the hotel hoping the entire time Peter would be here. Luck was on my side when I saw the person checking me in was the same person who talked to Peter that day, I has lunch in his office. Once I asked him where Peter was, he was too happy to direct me to the coffee shop. I had my bags taken upstairs to my room and headed straight to Peter.
I saw him having lunch with a nice-looking young man and hesitated thinking I might be interrupting a business meeting but decided to take a chance. If it was a meeting I would go to my room and freshen up while I waited for Peter. When I interrupted, my fears were laid to rest, as Peter immediately stood up and pulled me into an embrace. I look to the young man who is looking at us with amused curiosity. Peter follows my eyes to the young man and almost looks startled to see him sitting there.
“Um, Lenny, this is my grandson Shepard, but we call him Shepp. Shepp, this is a friend of mine from high school, Dr. Lennox Anderson.”
“Grandson! Wow! Hello Shepp, it’s nice to meet you,” I say as I offer him my hand. After shaking it, he turns to Peter.
“GP, I am going to go down to the coffee shop with Uncle Joseph for a little while, do you want to just meet tomorrow to finish going over everything?” he asks.
“Yeah, Shepp that would be great, um not too early though. How does ten A.M. sound?”
“Like a plan. Nice meeting you Dr. Anderson, GP I’ll see you tomorrow,” he says as he turns on his heels and walks out. I notice he has his cell out and I bet a solid gold fat man he’s calling his mother about Lennox.
“Lenny, what are you doing here? You said you wouldn’t be able to get here for another week or so,” he says as he sits back down at the booth.
“I worked my ass off to free my time up. I also had an interview with the hospital that has been trying to recruit me. You are already turning my life upside down Peter Bennett, and we are not going to just overlook the fact that you just introduced me to your grandson!”
“We have my grandchildren and more to discuss, where are you staying Lenny,” he asks.
“Here of course Peter where else would I be staying?”
“My house,” he says deadpan.
Peter
The hotel? Over my dead body! She will be under my roof; I think and then calm down because I cannot make her stay at my house. And if she feels more comfortable at the hotel, I will have to accept that. But I’m praying she wants to come home with me.
“I have six bedrooms, Lenny, and more than enough room for you to be comfortable,” I say a little frustrated. I take a deep breath because this is Lenny.
“Benny, I do not care if you lived in a shack, I have no problem being anywhere with you. I just didn’t want to assume, so I reserved a room just in case,” she says with an attitude.
“I’m sorry, I just want you with me and I’m letting my frustration get the best of me,” I tell her as I reach across the table to hold her hand.
“I literally just checked in, Peter.”
“Luckily for you, I know the owner,” I tell her.
We walked out of the coffee shop to the front desk where Peter tells Dawson I am checking out.
“Why don’t you go upstairs and make sure they get all of your belongings and meet me back in the office. I have a few phone calls to make, and then we can head to the house,” I tell her and watch as she walks off.
I head to my office pulling my phone out. Her first night at my house has to be special so I need to call in the heavy hitters.
“Hello?”
“Jaasiel, I need a favor,” I say without preamble. By the time Lennox gets to my office I am shutting down my computer. I gave instructions to Dawson because I will be unreachable for the next few days. I will not have my time with Lennox interrupted.
“Are you ready?” I ask.
She lifts her carry-on bag in answer.
I come around my desk and take her carry-on from her, lock my office, and head out the side door to where my car is parked. I cannot keep my hands off of her on the thirty-minute drive out to my house. I rub her face, hold her hand, squeeze those amazing thighs. She makes me feel like a teenager again, and the hand she has on my thigh has me thinking some not PG-rated thoughts. We finally get to my house and not a moment too soon. I haven’t felt this out of control since I was a kid.
“Peter your house is amazing, I love the outdoor spaces. I hope I have enough time to spend some time out here. I don’t know why I expected you to have a mansion, but this house suits you,” she says as we walk in the house and in my mind she’ll be living here giving her more than enough time to explore all the outdoor spaces.
