“The man we captured mentioned Vlad working with the Polish on smuggling, and having a woman on the inside.”

“Shit, and you know how much they love us.” We didn’t particularly care for them either but Sergei crushing the wedding of their main mobster made our working relationship even more strenuous.

“Have you talked to Sergei?” I asked him. It didn’t take a genius to realize that he held some resentment against our youngest brother since learning of his role in Anastasia's abduction.

“A few text messages back and forth,” his voice sounded strained. I wasn’t surprised. Sergei did some dumb shit over women for the past twenty years.

“He did wrong and he knows that,” I told him. “The truth was his woman was probably at risk by Boris’ men too. I’m not saying his thinking made sense but he didn’t do it with a malicious intent. And he did plant a few of his men into that house.”

“And what fucking good was that?” he spat out. “You saw her state when we got to her. He needs to start thinking with his head, not his dick.”

“Agreed, brother. Call him, cuss him out, slap him a few times if you need to,” I suggested. “But don’t let the anger simmer. Is Anastasia mad?”

“No,” he mumbled grudgingly. “She thinks in a weird way, all three of us saved the three of them.”

I could totally see Anastasia’s point of view. She had a tendency to seek good in people, just like my Olivia.

Changing the subject from Sergei, I decided the best thing was to let Dimitry ponder on my words. “How are things going with your future father-in-law?” I asked in a slightly teasing tone.

Who would have ever imagined that Dimitry and Manciatti would end up being family? Manciatti had been trying to put Dimitry behind bars for ten years and now they are sitting at the same table having dinner.

“Good.” Dimitry’s voice was gruff. He still wasn't sure what to do with all this. “Her dad and grandfather are here.”

“Tell him you two went fishing this morning,” Anastasia’s voice was in the background teasing him too. “And both of you came back alive.”

“Milaya,” my friend groaned but there was affection in his voice. Anastasia was the best thing that happened to him.

“C’mon, let me talk to him since you won’t divulge any information.” I heard some shuffling, muffled noise followed by Anastasia’s giggle. I really didn’t want to know what they were doing.

“I’m tying you up later if you don’t behave,” I heard Dimitry’s threat.

“Why would I behave now, silly?” Anastasia retorted back, and I swore a stifled moan came through. “I’ll make it quick,” her voice was breathless.

“Hi Nikolai,” Anastasia cleared her voice as she greeted me.

“Anastasia,” I greeted her back. “I see you are taking good care of my brother.”

“Ummm, yes.” She cleared her throat again. “Are you taking good care of Olivia?”

Ah, she couldn’t resist, I chuckled silently. There was a reason I liked Anastasia. She did not hesitate to stand toe to toe with anyone.

“How is your recovery going?” I asked instead.

“Good, I think another week or two and I’ll be back to normal.”

“Excellent. How does it feel living in a house full of men?” I teased her. With her grandfather and father there, and the security guards, she was the only woman in that household.

“Thank goodness Natasha comes to visit,” she exhaled. “I miss Olivia and Scarlett. But hopefully this business with Malcome and Vlad will soon be behind us.” I couldn’t agree more with her. “Keep her safe, okay?”

“I will,” I promised.

“Do you like her?” she asked, and I wasn’t surprised to hear her question. It made me want to know what Olivia has told her because I haven’t shared anything with either of my brothers yet. I wanted to keep her all to myself.

“Anastasia,” Dimitry groaned in the background. “Let them both be.”

“What? It’s a simple question,” she defended, and I laughed. “Maybe we could have a double wedding.” Those two already behaved like an old married couple.

“Tell Dimitry I’ll touch base if there are any changes. Don’t get in any more trouble, Anja.”
