“What the hell?” he yelped back.

“Who sent you?” I asked again.

No answer. Ilya punched him again. Andrey handed him a knife, and I watched without emotion as Andrey held the man’s hand flat against the chair armrest. Ilya pressed the knife against the index finger and blood immediately flowed.

“Ouch.” He was squealing like a pig and then he fainted. He actually fainted.

“Is he for real?” Andrey must have been shocked. “Did he faint?”

“Get ice water.” He would not get away this easy. He would feel the pain, and he would be awake to feel it. I would not grant him an easy way out.

Andrey was immediately back, splashing a bucket of ice water over the man jolting him awake. He looked disoriented, lost.

“Proceed, Ilya,” I ordered.

Without hesitation, Ilya pressed the knife further into his skin and the guy screamed like a girl.

“Hold on, hold on,” he begged like a dog he was. “I’ll tell you everything.”

Part of me wanted to punish him more. I needed to see him suffer. He was going to take Olivia away from me. He was going to take her back to Malcome, to suffer. I had no doubt Malcome was behind all this. He was obsessed with her. Sick fucker wanted her for himself, so he could get off while he tortured her. Just like he tortured my sister.

The image of my sister’s lifeless body flashed in my mind. Her bruised body from abuse. Her once ivory skin a sickly gray and her plump pink lips a washed out blue. Images of Nadia and Olivia mixed, fear that if these men got to her, she could end up the same way as my sister.

Over. My. Dead. Body.

“I’m waiting,” I gritted through my teeth instead. This man wasn’t going to leave here alive, regardless if I beat him now or shoot him later.

“Vlad hired us,” he spilled. “He wanted the redhead girl. Said there is a large prize on her head and he’d share it with us. There was another girl but things went south.”

Was he talking about Anastasia?

“What other girl? How many men are after-” I cut myself off, almost claiming my redhead girl, “the redhead girl?” I needed to keep my head clear. Careless mistakes like I almost made cost lives in our world.

“I don’t know.”

I glanced at Ilya and nodded for him to proceed. Immediately, he started pushing the knife against the bone of his finger.

“Wait,” he yelled, his voice full of pain. “Ten men signed up. Tops twelve.”

Fuck.Ilya and I shared glances. It meant we had to move immediately.

“What else was in it for Vlad? To get a redhead girl and the other girl?” I asked. Regardless if he answered or not, he was dying today. It was only a matter of how he would die… quick or slow.

“Boris wanted the other girl. He had some satellite deal with the billionaire, and after he was done with the other girl, Boris was going to deliver her to the billionaire. Something about her getting away, and he’d make her pay along with her friend.” He was actually crying. If he couldn’t handle this world, he should have stayed the fuck out of it. Weak idiot! “None of it made sense.”

Stupid fucker. If none of it made sense, he shouldn’t have signed up for it.

“What else?” I asked, waiting. I’d give him one more chance to spill if he had anything else.

“Vlad wants Boris’ spot, and if he delivers the redhead woman, the billionaire promised to give the contract to Vlad. Vlad is working with a woman that has connections with the Polish mob. Something to do with the smuggling. But that is all I know.”

When I got ahold of Vlad, he would fucking pay. Smuggling? With the Polish mob? He sold us all out. How long has he been selling us out? He kept feeding us feeble information, parts of it omitted. It was the reason we didn’t know Manciatti had a daughter or his connection to the senator and governor. If Manciatti hadn’t reached out, Boris and Vlad would have gotten it all.

All the information so far pointed to Malcome’s involvement in Boris’ prison escape. Vlad didn’t have connections nor funds to pull it off. I had no doubt in my mind that Vlad was scheming all along to take over Boris’ spot.

I pulled out the gun from my holster.

“Wait, I told you everything,” he shouted.
