I felt self-conscious and exposed. I haven’t worn something as sexy as this in over a decade. I had a short sparkly dress, probably shorter than I had any business wearing at my age, and knee-high black boots. I applied a bit heavier make-up than my usual for dramatic effect and let my hair fall in soft waves down my back.

He stood up, his phone forgotten as he dropped it on the love seat, and his stroll powerful as he approached me.

“You look fucking exquisite,” he hummed. “So hot. I want to bend you over and fuck you until you forget everything but me. I want you wrapped around my cock, screaming my name as I fuck you hard with these boots on.”

I inhaled sharp, a blush creeping up my neck. His words brought all kinds of images to mind, making me feel hot. I wanted him hard too, almost with desperation. His smell, that special cologne mixed with the smell of him, enveloped me, and I leaned closer to kiss him on the cheek.

“Later,” I promised in a breathless whisper.

“Let’s go,” he groaned. “...before I lose all self-control and lock us in this bedroom.”

I smiled happily; a giggle escaped my lips. I grabbed a black shawl to cover my shoulders at the restaurant, in case they had some dress etiquette rules. Although I had a feeling they’d break them for Kristoff Baldwin.

We left the bedroom, Kristoff almost dragging me out as if he was scared he’d cave to his earlier promise.

“Slow down, Krisotff,” I mumbled laughing. “I haven’t walked in heels like this in over a decade. I can’t walk that fast.”

“Sorry,” he answered apologetically and added, “I can’t wait to bring you back home.”

I smiled seductively at him, feeling like I was back in my early twenties and completely carefree.

“The wait will be worth it though,” I teased and eluded further as he opened the door to his car. “For both of us.”

He smacked my butt gently and urged me into the car.

Chapter Five

We were at the restaurant within the next twenty minutes. As he pulled up in front of the fancy restaurant by Capitol Hill, a valet opened the door for me. Before he could help me up, Kristoff was already around the vehicle, reaching for my hand, helping me out of his car.

“Thanks,” I mumbled a bit self-conscious again now that we were in public. I noticed a few stares, and it was enough to make me feel uncomfortable. I stepped a bit closer to Kristoff, who didn’t seem bothered at all, and he put his hand around my waist, resting it on my hip. There was something in that gesture of his that calmed my nerves, so I focused on it and ignored everyone else.

The waiter must have been waiting for us because as soon as he saw Kristoff, he came over and led us to our secluded table with an open view of Capitol Hill.

As we sat down, I glanced at Kristoff and asked, “How do you always manage to get tables with best views?”

He just gave me his charming smile. His stare was hot on me, making my panties drenched. If he kept this up, we weren’t going to make it through dinner, much less the nightclub. The latter I wouldn’t regret, but I did promise Rick I’d be there.

Once I relaxed and ignored everyone’s stares, I enjoyed the dinner with Kristoff. I figured they were probably staring more at him than myself. He portrayed power, confidence, and money regardless if that was his intent or not. Just the way he carried himself invited stares.

As our drinks came in, we chatted about his plans for his latest acquisition, and I shared a picture with him I got from Sienna, a silly selfie of the girls with their grandma - all making a funny face.

“You miss them.” He wasn’t exactly asking, more stating.

“I do,” I replied. “I called them earlier today but they were having such a good time, they weren’t even interested in talking on the phone with me.” I chuckled although there was a tone of sadness there too. “One day, they’ll be all grown and hopefully still come around. I mean, look at Sienna,” I stated matter-of-factly. “I bet you if Jack called her, she’d find time to talk to him regardless of how much fun she was having. It’s just a cycle of life, I guess.”

“They will always find their way back to you,” he comforted me. “So Sienna and Jack are dating?”

“I’m not sure,” I answered honestly. “I think she likes him, and I’m guessing he likes her. It’s hard to keep up and Sienna can be so moody at times. He really is a good kid.”

He frowned when I said that but he ended up nodding in agreement. I shared with him that Sienna and Jack were talking almost daily and had gone on one date.

“Where did they go on their first date?” he asked.

“Jack actually made it pretty fun and original. They went to the paintball range. I dropped off Sienna at the address, where we met Jonathan and Jack. Then Jonathan drove them from there to their dinner reservation. And I picked her up from the restaurant. You should have seen her,” I beamed while taking a small sip of wine. “She was so happy that day. And speaking of happy, your mother sent me a selfie with her crew as they were boarding your plane for their Croatian trip.”

He laughed. “Did they have any heads in the pictures?”

I chuckled. “There was a fraction of someone’s face but mostly I got the top of their heads and the plane. I thought maybe their intention was to tell me they are getting on the plane.”
