The young man sitting next to him jumped in. “This is my father, Samuel Senior. I’m Samuel Junior. I didn’t know Kristoff keeps hot secretaries around. We will see each other a lot more.”
I squirmed a bit uncomfortably, unsure even how to respond to that.
Would telling him to go to hell be appropriate right now?
I looked at the old man, and I could tell by the look in his eyes he was annoyed with his son.Samuel Jr. should really get a cue from his father,I thought to myself but said nothing to Samuel Jr. and looked down to my notepad to write down today’s date and purpose of the meeting.
“Don’t pay attention to my son, Gemma. He is still learning how to act around beautiful and smart women,” Samuel Sr. added gently. I smiled at him, grateful for his effort on behalf of his son. I saw Kristoff watching me from the corner of my eye. When I turned to face him, his eyes were guarded and I couldn't read his expression. I had a distinctive feeling Kristoff was watching my every move and every word intently.
“Ok everyone, let’s start this,” he said coldly. I kept my notes going, writing off-hand tasks to follow up with copies of paperwork after the meeting, and then, an hour into the meeting, it was all over. Apparently, it only takes one hour to sign a huge multi-million dollar deal. Who knew?
“This is the last document,” Kristoff concluded. “It lays out our agreement, Samuel, you will be assigned the Senior Advisor role till you are ready to retire.”
“What?” Samuel Jr. exclaimed. He looked pissed off. I guess he didn’t know about it.
“Son, Kristoff and I decided this is the best recourse for the future of my company… pardon me, Kristoff’s company now,” Samuel Sr. said warily to his son.
“This is bullshit!” He slammed his fists on the table.
“It is done, and that is how it will be or there is no deal,” Kristoff said coolly.
I looked cautiously at Kristoff and the other two men, waiting uncomfortable. I never liked confrontations and they made me extremely nervous. I sat tense waiting while everyone in the room sat in silence.
Samuel Sr. finally spoke up. “That is what we agreed on,” he acknowledged laying his hand on his son’s arm. “My son will recognize this is the best outcome for the future of employees and the company.”
And the final signature was obtained. Everyone stood up to congratulate each other for the deal, even though it seemed like the only winner was Kristoff. All the men cleared, leaving me with Kristoff and Samuel Sr., along with his son in the room.
Samuel Jr. openly leered up and down my body, lingering on my breasts when he finally said, “Gemma, you were the highlight of this meeting. We don't see many hot secretaries around. I’m sure we’ll speak again… maybe even do something more.” And then he left the room without another word to Kristoff or his father.
Samuel Sr. came over to Kristoff and shook hands with him as the last departing member and then turned to me.
“It was nice meeting you, Gemma. I look forward to working with you.”
“Thank you,” I said smiling without commenting further.
Truth was, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to be working with any of them. And I certainly hoped I wasn’t going to be working with Samuel Jr. at all, considering the way he was leering at me.
When they’d all left, I turned to Kristoff.
“Congratulations,” I congratulated him, smiling tiredly.
He stared at me with a guarded look in his eyes. I wasn’t sure what that was about but I didn’t particularly care. I felt drained. I turned to go, when he put his arm around my waist and pulled me close to him. I let him, relishing his strength and warmth. I felt his lips on my neck and I tilted my head to allow him a better access while a sigh escaped my lips. His lips came to mine, and kissed me deep, his tongue hungry. I wrapped my arms around him. We made out while his fingers gently stroked my body.
“Mmmmm, that feels good,” I murmured against his lips.
He stopped kissing me, but didn’t let go of me. His arms were still holding me close to him
“There is a dinner gathering scheduled with the same group to celebrate our purchase in an hour. Do you want to come? All the men that were at the signing table will be there.”
I looked up to him, and I couldn’t quite tell what he was thinking. I had a strange sixth sense telling me there was something I was missing.
“If you want me to come, I’ll come. But if you don’t need me, I’d rather not.”
“Are you sure? Samuel Senior and Junior will be there, and they both seem very fond of you.” His voice was tense and cold although his hands were still on my body, holding me tightly.
“Yes, I am sure,” I replied firmly. “I like the older man very much. I think he is a good man.”
“And do you like the Junior?”
