“So eager to spend them.”
“Well, I could always go back to Revelation once I run out,” I teased.
“I will have to put you on the block list,” he retorted dryly. “You can only go there with me, as my guest.”
“So damn controlling.”
“Only with you, love. Now, let’s get ready.”
I lifted off his lap before remembering what I wanted to ask him, halting. “Why did you tell me your name was Luke that night?”
“Well, if I told you Maxim, I worried you would have run.” He nudged me on, guiding me to the bathroom. As he turned on the shower, he stripped me out of his shirt and then started stripping himself. “And Luke is my middle name, so it was the closest I came to telling you the truth.”
I smiled. “You didn’t lie.”
“No. I would never lie to you. Now get in so I can wash my cum off your body.”
And just like that I was hot again. As if he knew what he did to me, he chuckled. “We won’t have time to satisfy my insatiable, filthy woman this morning, but don’t worry, love. I plan to give it all to you tonight.”
“You are horrible,” I complained but he knew I loved it. “I have nothing to wear. It looks like we have to stay in after all.”
He chuckled as he lathered soap onto my naked body. “I had clothes ordered for you and delivered. It might not be exactly what you would prefer but I did my best.”
And just like that another piece of me cracked and he seeped right through it.
“I’m sure it’s perfect.” Just like him.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Maxim
Daniel already waited for us when Layla and I entered the office.
“Finally,” he complained, although there was amusement in his eyes. “I wondered if you decided to stay in bed all day.”
A light blushed creeped up Layla’s neck. “You are just jealous because nobody wants to spend a day in bed with you.”
“Prick,” he retorted, grinning. “Hello, Layla.”
“Hello, Daniel. And thank you for helping with this mess.”
“My pleasure.”
She chewed on her lip, a firm tell of her nervousness. “Not sure how pleasurable it is. And my grandparents stole so much money from you.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll get it back,” I assured her.
“Unless you plan to contest it?” Daniel asked and I really wanted to punch him.
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you could contest, it is all rightfully yours, and we wouldn’t be able to sell all of the assets from your grandparents to cover what they have stolen.”
Layla shrugged her shoulders. “It is all yours. I have no intention of contesting anything.”
“Are you sure?” he drilled her further. “All the homes, castles-”
“Yes, I am sure.” There was no doubt in her voice. “It was never mine anyhow, and besides, they owe it to all those families they ripped off.”
