“What are you doing here?” he asked in his demanding tone.
“What do you mean? I work here.” I spat back. “And you better learn how to say please before I kill you ahead of this doomed marriage and my court hearing.”
“Calm down, Liberty,” he retorted back. “And sit down,” I opened my mouth to object when he added, “...please.”
I shut my mouth, somewhat satisfied that he listened to me.
I took a deep breath and looked at him after taking my seat. His expensive jacket and vest were hanging carelessly on his chair, and sleeves of his expensive white shirt were rolled up as if he was deep into an assignment. His arms were strong, his skin slightly tan as if he spent a lot of time in the sun. Staring at his arms and hands, I thought I saw a flash of ink as he moved his arms. There was no way, he was such a clean cut guy. I couldn’t help but wonder how it would feel having his hands on me.
I shook my head at the ridiculous idea.
Stop fantasizing about this man.He is totally not my type, I lied to myself.
The reason he constantly sent my body into hyperactive mode was because I hadn’t had sex in so long. Physically, Alexander Caldwell was ridiculously hot but his personality did not mesh with mine at all. I liked attentive and caring men, with a healthy dose of humor. This guy barely even smiled.
But when he did, oh my goodness… it made my heart race and my panties wet.
I shook my head again. It didn’t really matter, we were doing this as a business deal. We didn’t love each other. Maybe we can just respect each other till we both get what we want. That thought alone made this whole arrangement so sad. No intimacy, no love… I almost caught myself sighing sadly.
That is enough, I told myself. I would be able to get Brandon and that was all that mattered.
I looked away from those strong arms and back to his face. His gaze was on me and those usually cold eyes were burning with something I couldn’t quite distinguish. Maybe he was pissed?
“Sorry,” I mumbled, uncomfortable. “I got sidetracked in my thoughts.”
That look in his eyes was gone in the same instance, and I questioned whether I imagined it.
“No worries,” he answered as he reached with those strong arms to loosen his tie, unbuttoning top button. I realized in the haze following his movements, it was the first time I saw him without his suit jacket and vest. It made me want to see him naked. “You have a lot on your mind,” he added.
My eyes snapped to his. “What?” Did he read my thoughts? Because that would be totally embarrassing.
“You must have a lot on your mind with Brandon,” he clarified and I blinked my eyes trying to focus.
“Yes,” I agreed although right now my mind seemed to be solely focused on Alexander Caldwell’s body.
I need sex. Maybe I should try and hook up with someone? Or maybe this would be a short-term marriage with benefits?I mentally groaned.Stop thinking nonsense.
This guy was cold as ice and probably cold in bed, not to mention he probably had no interest in me. All the things I had been fantasizing about were just fantasies. They were far from real.
No sex during this business arrangement, I promised myself.
He clearly had been hooking up with that Elizabeth chick, and many others. Maybe I could find someone to hook up with so I could get this sexual frustration out of the way. I never hooked up before but there was a first time for everything.
“Why am I here?” I asked, completely forgetting why I even came into his office.
A small smile showed up on his lips and I was completely mesmerized. What was going on with me?
“That’s what I want to know. I asked why are you here?” he repeated his earlier question.
“I thought I answered that already,” I muttered.Where had my brain gone?
“You should be getting ready,” he replied.
“Ready for what?” I asked, completely confused at this point. What the hell are we talking about?
“For Saturday,” he added as if that explained it better.
I put my hand through my hair, really lost at what was going on. “Did I miss something?” I asked in confusion. “What’s happening Saturday?”
