I sat up straight, Colin and Margaret’s sorrow on their faces.

“I’m sorry,” I told them. “I’ll grab a few things and go back to my apartment. You can send the rest of it later.”

I turned to Brandon and Elise. “Can you guys drive me back to my apartment?”

“No,” Colin’s voice made me look back at him. “You are his wife, Eve. So this is your home. You should stay till you two resolve this.”

I watched him intently. What made him think we’d resolve it?

“No running away,” Margaret jumped in. “You two are so good together. From the moment we saw you two together, there was no mistake Lachlan was yours. Give it some time and you’ll work it out.”

I glanced at Elise and she shook her head in agreement.

“You never looked better than when you were around him,” she spoke softly. “Give it some time and then work it out.”

I wasn’t as confident.

“Kiddo,” Brandon interrupted. “Don’t give up. You can do this. Remember when you set your mind to going out that night in Italy. Set your mind on him and he won’t stand a chance.”

I actually smiled. “I danced on the bar last night,” I mumbled. “He wasn’t too happy.”

Everyone laughed and tension in the room eased up a few notches. I’ll give him some space for a couple of days and then I’ll talk to him.
