“I never hurt them,” she cried. “Every mother punishes her kids once in a while.”
“So, you let your husband terrorize them,” I surmised, inching my blade towards the old man. “To rape them. To sell them.”
In an abrupt change of direction, I brought the knife towards her. She squeezed her eyes shut as if that would save her.
The blade pointed at her eyeball, barely an inch from it. She wouldn’t know though because she kept her eyes shut, whimpering like the bitch she was.
And her husband certainly wasn’t attempting to save her.
Fucking pathetic. Both of them.
“If I stab you in your eye,” I pondered loudly, taunting them, “this will be over too soon. So we’ll start with ears. Since you refused to hear your daughters’ pleas.”
In one efficient move, I sliced her right ear. Her piercing scream almost deafened me. Fucking bitch. So because she pissed me off, I sliced his ear off too. Left ear, since he faced in the opposite direction.
“Appropriate, huh?” I barked, their blood already splattering onto my suit. “We’ll take out your ears, then your tongue and finish with your eyes.” Then I got into his face, and gritted through my teeth, “For failing Sailor and Anya.”
They both sobbed like the fucking cowards they were. Gurgling noises filled the air and it fucking annoyed the shit out of me.
I didn’t let it deter me as I followed through. They bawled and screamed like babies, their noses bleeding and snot hanging off their faces. Fucking disgusting.
“You’re not worth it,” I spat out. “Neither one of you.”
In one swift move, I plunged my knife into his pupil and watched him die, as Sailor’s mother pissed herself. Then I pulled my knife out and shifted to her. She shook like a goddamn leaf.
“You had two beautiful, kind daughters,” I snapped at her. “And you used them as sacrificial lambs.”
“You’re crazy,” she screamed. “A fucking devil.”
I swung my arm and plunged the blood soaked knife into her pupil. “Correction:thefucking devil. See you in fucking hell, bitch.”
I watched as life vanished from her other eye, both of their bodies slumped and blood covered, dripping down their torsos and their bound arms. It was a fucking mess.
It was then I noticed the ring with the McHale family crest on her father’s finger.
ChapterFifty-Seven
SAILOR
My phone rang.
Caller ID - My diablo.
Surprise washed over me. Raphael was gone before I woke up and I hadn’t seen him or heard from him since. That was two days ago.
On one hand I was grateful he offered space. On the other hand, I was disappointed. I really had to get my shit together.
“Hello, Raphael,” I answered.
“Reina.” His deep voice vibrated through the line and straight to my core. Was that even normal? That his voice could affect me even over the phone.
“Where are you?” I winced at the hint of accusation in my tone. “Gabriel said he hasn’t seen you,” I clarified.
When I learned Raphael hadn’t come home, I’d insisted Gabriel spend the next night with me. But jealousy ate at me. Maybe I was stupid to keep him at bay. The night he spent over was the first time since the kidnapping that I got some sleep. And it was thanks to him. He kept my nightmares at bay.
“I had to take care of some business. But I’m back now.”
I waited. For what, I didn’t know. Or maybe I did. I wanted him to ask me to come back, which was dumb since it was me that asked for time. Ugh.
