I pushed my knife against her shoulder blade, piercing through her skin through the polo and pushing into her muscle. I felt no regret or pity for her. She went after Bianca’s husband and caused Bianca pain. I wanted to know why.

“Why did Benito want you to seduce William Carter?” I asked. “And let me tell you, I fucking hate repeating myself.”

Leonardo stepped forward, holding his own gun. “We know you are working for him. Tell Nico everything, and he’ll end it quickly. Or I’ll make sure you last days before you’re given any type of relief from the amount of pain I will inflict on you.”

She sobbed, her hair a moppy mess. If she hoped for pity, she’d get none here.

“Last chance,” Leonardo announced, grabbing a big saw. “We can start with sawing your toes.”

Her head jerked back and forth. “He wanted me to kill him,” she screeched.

Leonardo and I shared a glance. “Continue,” I ordered.

“He wanted him dead,” she cried, but her tears didn’t faze me at all. “So he could get his hands on William’s wife.”

Anger burned like fire in the pit of my stomach.

“Why?”

“Something about property on the Amalfi Coast.” Her voice was shaking, her eyes frantic. “He wanted it.” Her gaze shifted back to me. “Please, Nico. I’ll do anything-”

This bitch thought she knew me. All she saw was my suits and money. But underneath it all was my depravity and hunger for the kill. She could never comprehend the ruthless nature of criminals, thinking she could manipulate us.

“How were you going to kill him?” I asked, ignoring her pleas. A storm brewed inside me, ready to snap Jenna’s neck for her betrayal.

“We did kill him,” she confessed. “I’ve met William even before you approached me. Benito wanted him dead. I seduced him the first night, then slipped Thallium into his drink.” Fuck! Thallium wouldn’t have been found in his bloodstream. Not unless the doctors were looking for it.” It’s colorless, odorless, tasteless poison. We arranged for the doctors on Benito’s payroll to see William through his treatments. He didn’t have a brain tumor. It was a false diagnosis.” She wept like she was the one suffering; when in fact, she was the one that caused suffering. “The doctors pumped him full of poison, to speed up the death.”

The blood in my veins froze. That fucking bastard! “Where did you get the poison?” I gritted my teeth.

“From Benito,” she whimpered, sensing my fury.

Thallium caused convulsions and it was a symptom that was common to a brain tumor diagnosis.

“Why hasn’t he made a move since her husband’s death?”

When she didn’t answer, I pushed my knife against her cheek, cutting through the flesh. The skin split, causing blood to gush down her face. I wanted to put salt in her cut so she could scream in suffering for being such a cold hearted bitch.

“Why?” I gritted out, pushing my knife further, the blade connecting with her cheekbone.

“Her mother has a property on the Amalfi Coast,” she screamed in agony. “It will eventually go to Bianca. Benito arranged to have Bianca sold. He contemplated having her lined up to be his mistress, or Marco’s, like her mother. But then he made a different deal. He won’t let you marry her. He’s coming for her.”

Obviously, he didn’t know Bianca was his daughter. My stomach churned at the revelation. I reached for the gun on the table before pointing it at Jenna’s head and pulling the trigger. Her body jerked before her head fell forward and her body slouched against the restraints still holding her up.

It was better than she deserved.

ChapterTwenty

BIANCA

By the time I crawled into bed, it was nearly ten at night. The girls had their bath and crashed from exhaustion. The best tuck in ever. The evening was surprisingly pleasant, though I couldn’t shake off a feeling that something was about to happen. Probably stupid wedding jitters. I mean who wouldn’t have them if they were marrying a mobster.

Nico left shortly after Mary, right after our early dinner. By six o’clock, it was just the girls and me. It almost felt like our normal day, except that Bear was around and a few other men were surrounding the house. When I questioned Nico about it, he said it was a standard procedure. Whatever the heck that meant!

Once everyone was gone, the girls and I went to the beach for a bit longer. We all splashed, laughed, and played. Then we came back for cookies and shared a batch with the men, while sitting on the patio. Bear was the only one to ever come inside the house. Strangely enough, once I told my girls the men were watching the house, they were satisfied with that explanation and adopted them into our routine.

Staring at the ceiling in the dark, I went through the events that happened over the last two days in my head. Mary wasn’t happy about the quick wedding. She questioned Nico about the reasoning behind the urgency, hinting that maybe I was pregnant. It annoyed me a bit, but I ignored it. However, something about the way Nico answered her when questioned about the wedding bothered me. When she asked for the location of the ceremony, he said he hadn’t decided yet. Same with time, size… he avoided telling her any details. Not that I myself knew of any of it.

It had been a whirlwind since he showed up in my kitchen threatening to kill me or marry me. My phone beeped and surprisingly a message from Angie flashed on my screen.
