Run! My human instincts screamed inside my head. Get the fuck out!
I held my ground.
If I left, Feral would finish off Eros for good.
That wasn’t an option. I made a promise to Sterling. I told him I would bring both of them back safe, and damn it, I was going to keep that promise.
With the monster’s attention on me, I had to think fast.
I could try to fight him. But even then, what chance did I have of taking him down? Zip. Zero. None.
In the muscle department, Feral could probably wrestle Godzilla and win.
Once again, I was at battle with myself.
My human side wanted to run. But there was that other part of me… The one that scared me sometimes. She was trying to claw her way to the surface.
Oh, God.
The prospect of letting my instincts out to play and lose control right alongside Feral was a scary thought.
But I needed to learn to trust that side of me. I couldn’t keep her caged within me forever. I had to trust that she would protect her mate, and if that meant going head to head with Feral in a fight… Bring it the fuck on.
Closing my eyes, I breathed out a steady sigh.
I gave into that part of me, letting my monster out into the open.
The first thing that hit me was the scent.
It was different now that I had shoved my humanity to the periphery of my consciousness.
I could scent a male, a dangerous and lethal one. The unadulterated testosterone wrapped around me like a choker, giving me a wickedly dangerous idea.
This man, this creature, he was an unmarked monster, worthy of mating me.
I purred my approval, releasing the same pheromone that I had the night I mated the silver-haired prince. The female aroma permeated the ring, and I could see the male’s eyes change.
They returned to that familiar crimson shade, his pupils blowing up.
“That’s right, big boy.” I smirked, licking my lips. “When’s the last time you had a female of your caliber? I’m guessing never, considering you don’t carry a mark.”
The virile male rattled a low, seductive growl that made my insides molten. The sizable bulge between his thighs twitched, and his fangs flashed, showing me he thirsted for my blood just as much as he thirsted for my body.
“Brave female,” he rasped. “Thinking you can take a male like me between your thighs.”
I chuckled a purr, stalking around the perimeter of the ring, enjoying the way his eyes followed me like I was the only woman to exist in the entire world.
This was the hunt, the mating dance. The last time I had done this, it had been with a full-blooded vampire.
Feral was some wild, monstrous half-blood. He was so huge, his gym shorts were almost busting at the seams, and by the mass of the piece that hung between his thighs, it was no friend to womankind.
But my options were limited here, and if anyone could handle The Feral King, it was me.
“Believe me.” I bit my lips as they took on an impish, taunting smile. “I can take way more than you can dish out. But I welcome you to come over here and try to prove me wrong.”
Another vicious growl tore from him, making my bones rattle. He stomped toward me, his tremendous strides eating the distance between us.
“I will make you mine, woman. I’ll cover you in so many of my marks, no other male will dare look at you again.”
