That seemed to placate what I assumed was the council.
“What’s your name?” one of them asked, but my vision was so blurry, I couldn’t tell which one.
“Oz. My name is Oz.”
More rumblings among them. Given a better state of health, I would’ve been able to decipher what they were saying but in the meantime, it was all just jumbled and fuzzy.
“Oz, you may stay in one of our caves for a night. We will feed you one meal, and you are to be gone by dawn. Are we clear?”
I nodded. They must not have sensed any dishonestly in my tone which was good because there wasn’t any.
“Excellent. Take him to the caves. Out by dawn. Remember.”
