“Pull over then.” She whispers, her mouth finding my jaw, my cheek, and then my lips.

I swerve over to the side of the road, slamming on the brakes, the cover of trees in this neighborhood giving us at least a little bit of privacy, then throw the car in park.

I pull her onto my lap, pressing my mouth to hers. She kisses me like a mad woman, all teeth and tongue and moans.

My hands find her ass, I pull her down onto the bulge in my pants hard, showing her exactly what she does to me, and she moans around my tongue.

She pulls back half an inch, “Fuck me right now.”

I pop the button on her skintight jeans without another word, pull the zipper down, then the driver’s side door flies open.

Cool nighttime air hits me first, then the barrel of a gun.

“Thought I told you to stop fucking with Westside trash?”

Diego.

Jasmine screams when she’s yanked off of my lap. I feel blood streaming down the side of my face but ignore it to hop out of the car after her.

“Diego, wait.” I say, then the entire world freezes.

Jasmine is on her knees in the dark, empty street, her pants still undone, Diego holding a gun to the back of her head. Execution style. She’s shaking, trying to keep the sobs at bay, and her eyes seek me out.

“Do you know what happens when you disobey your brothers, Travis?” Diego asks me, his black eyes finding me in the shadows.

I take a step towards my girl, “D, she was just going to say goodbye. She wants to do the initiation. She’s withus.”

Diego clicks his tongue, shaking his head side to side, “This isn’t about this dirty cunt, it’s aboutyou.”

I blink, he cocks the gun, my head starts to swim from the blood loss but I take another step forward, “Please, Diego. Please.”

Then he pulls the trigger.

Mac isnext to me talking, but I can’t hear him.

All I can hear is the blood rushing in my ears as I stare off into the night. I don’t feel the cold breeze on my skin, I don’t feel anything.

I’m numb, my mind completely blank.

In the last hour I watched a handful of my brothers clean up the crime scene I’m still sitting in. And now? Now it’s just a road again. No one will ever know what happened here.

No one will ever know what happened to my Jasmine.

“Travis.” Mac says, so I turn to look at him, my face blank.

“We have to go.” He says, holding a hand towards me so I can hop off the hood of my car.

I don’t grab it. I just stare at it hanging in the air in between us.

“Travis.” Jax says from my other side and I turn my head to look at him. “Get in the car.”

I slide down off the hood, my limbs heavy and numb, the buttons on my pants probably scratching the paint, but who fucking cares?

Certainly not me.

I turn to Jaxson, “He killed her, man.”
