We both fall over laughing and finish off our cigarette. I throw my hair up in a bun, and lace my fingers through Summer’s before standing up, pulling her up with me.
“Ready to go?” I wiggle my eyebrows at her, and she gives me a nod before following me through the sliding glass door towards the exit.
Travis and Mac are both perched on the sofa where I left them, and Summer wags her fingers at them to say goodbye. Both boys jump up like puppies and race to reach us.
Travis reaches us first and grabs me by the waist and pulls me into a hug, landing kisses along my neck, “Leaving already?”
I nod, “Mmhmm,” His lips are ghosting over the flesh of my neck, and my body starts humming and begging me to stay.
I pull out of his hold a few inches, and his mouth lands on mine. Whether it’s a goodbye kiss or a kiss trying to convince me to stay, I savor it. His soft lips cover mine and I can feel the edges turning up in a smile.
His hands squeeze my hips, and he speaks against my mouth, “Why don’t you just stay?”
“Ready, Liv?” Summer’s voice cuts through the room and I grin as I pull away from Travis.
Both boys follow us to the front door – not sure where Jax ran off to – and I pull the door open before I can be tempted to stay any longer.
“Have a good night, gentlemen.” Summer says to them, and their eyes watch us as we slip through the door, heading to the elevator that will bring us back outside.
I quickly pull up the Uber app on my phone and order a car, then turn around to see Travis still standing at the door watching us walk away –me, watchingmewalk away.
The elevator doors slide open, so me and my girl step inside. My eyes find Travis at the end of the hallway, I blow him a kiss just as the doors are sliding closed, shutting us away from him.
Chapter Ten
Travis
I stretchout in my bed and let out a groan before rolling over and pulling my phone off the charger to check the time. 10:02 am.
Jax and I are meeting Mac at the gym at 10:30 so I hop out of bed and head to my closet, ripping the first shirt I find off of the hanger, pulling it over my head. I grab a pair of basketball shorts and slip them on, followed by my Nike Trainers.
I dial Mac and he picks up on the second ring. “Yo, I’m almost downtown. Wanna meet at Starbucks?”
“Yeah, we’ll be there in ten.” I hit end on the call and head out into the living room, where Jax is sitting on the sofa, playing with his phone.
“Ready?”
He jumps up, nodding at me before slipping his phone into his pocket.
We head out the front door and hit the call button for the elevator, entering when the doors slide open. We both lean back against the wall, waiting to get out on the ground floor.
Jax starts laughing, turning his head to me, then running a hand through his hair. “Are we gonna talk about the fact that those chicks ditched us last night?”
I bark out a laugh as the elevator doors slide open, “At least you didn’t have to see it, you were already passed out.”
We slide out the front doors to our building and get into my Range Rover, which is street parked right out front.
G-Eazy starts blaring through my speakers and Jax starts yelling out the lyrics as I pull onto the street.
Our gym is on the edge of the river, through the Upper East Side, so I pull a joint out of my center console and light it, take a huge drag and then pass it off to Jax.
Ten minutes later I’m pulling into a parking space outside Starbucks, my head in the clouds. We hop out and head inside, where Mac is waiting with three black coffees.
Jax and I plant our asses in the seats opposite Mac and both drink down some coffee before Mac speaks up.
“Those girls from last night were...” He leans back in the wooden chair and crosses his arms over his chest, trying to think of the right words to describe the firecrackers that bailed on us last night. “Different.”
Jax takes a huge gulp of coffee and then places it down on the table before looking at me, then back at Mac. “Different?”
