Mac groans, “Gross.”
I chuckle, “As long as they don’t know where we are, all is grand.”
Mac passes me a cigarette and then lights one for himself, and we smoke in silence again, that is until I notice Jax checking me out with a massive, shit-eating grin on his face.
“Can I help you, Jaxson?”
He shakes his head a little, still grinning, “Nah, T.”
I flick my eyes to Mac, and he shrugs, so I look back to Jax, who’s holding in giggles like a little fucking girl.
I hit my cigarette and perch a foot against the wall behind me, staring straight ahead, “I’ve told you a hundred times, J. I don’t wanna be your boyfriend.”
Mac and Jax both laugh and I offer them a smile before hitting my cigarette again.
“Nah, it’s not that.” Jax finally offers.
I stand up straight, turning my body towards him, “Spit it out, fucker.”
He chuckles, “You will never guess who’s here.”
My stomach drops a little, at the fear Sarah has walked through the door behind me and found out my hiding spot, but Jax reads my face and shakes his head. I roll my eyes and lean back against the wall again, understanding who he’s talking about.
“Yeah, I already know, shitbird.”
“Who?” Mac questions and Jax cackles.
“Hisgiiiiiiiiirlfriend,Olivia.”
I roll my eyes at my best friends, who are both standing there like they’ve just figured it all out. “Are you five?” I ask Jax, who responds with a nod of his head and a shrug.
“Dude, you should have heard him all day after we left The Top,” He clears his throat and starts impersonating me badly, his voice about as high pitched as it’ll go, “‘Olivia is sooo pretty, I think she’s a fallen angel, Jaxson. She’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. I am a huuuuuge pussy.’”
I roll my eyes, “You sound nothing like me.”
My best friends laugh in unison, then Jax slaps a hand against my arm to get my attention. My eyebrows dip in question, and then I follow his eyeline to the doors on the opposite side of the balcony.
Where Olivia and Summer are standing, staring right at us.
“Ah, fuck.” I mumble, keeping my eyes glued to my new obsession, who’s staring at me like she’s staring into a mirror – no emotion traces her face, just a small amount of question and suspicion. Probably trying to figure out why this is the second time I’ve shown up in her life today.
Her friend, on the other hand, is staring at me and my boys like a steak dinner. All lust and curiosity in her wide eyes, like it’s her job.
Me? I’m half panicking, half wondering how I can get rid of Sarah and Rebecca to make this night better – so I can spend time with this woman that’s drawn parts of me out that haven’t seen the light of day in a long, long time.
“Incoming.” Jax whispers loudly, just as Olivia and Summer take the first step towards us, their steps calculated and slow, like two lionesses that are hunting their prey.
I clear my throat, standing up straight then running my sweaty palms along the front of my jeans, readying myself for the moment I’ve been waiting for all night.
I swear I can hear my heart beating, can feel it pounding in my neck, can feel the desperation that I’m clouded by whenever I look at her. And watching her walk towards me? It’s a new taste in my mouth. One that tastes familiar but isn’t. One that feels natural, calm but erratic. A feeling that has me swelling in my pants and sweating at my lower back.
“Gentlemen.” Summer says in greeting once they reach us, a smile on her puffy lips. Olivia, however, is staring at me through hooded eyelids. A curious look on her porcelain face that has me speaking next.
“Olivia.”
She cracks a smile, her front teeth clamping down on her dark red painted lip. “Should I be concerned that I have a stalker, Travis?”
Mac coughs, trying to cover up his laughter, which gets the attention of the two predatory girls standing before us in dresses that show off every-fucking-thing they need to have a man wrapped around their perfectly manicured fingers.
