"Yes, but they lived once, and I have some questions about them... and you."

Inuit looks at Macon, holding the gaze of the former alpha for much longer than most wolves can. Finally, he nods, "I will go, then."

"In!" I hiss.

He flashes me a rare smile, "I'll be fine, Penny." He looks at my Dad, "can you drive me, please, Mr. Song?"

"Of course," Dad murmurs. His eyes are examining Inuit like he's never seen him before.

"We're coming. Penny, go get Sarj and Ty, please," Mom announces. I choke down my surprise, like, it's totally normal for Mom to order around alphas.

Both Dad and Alpha Macon stay silent. I follow their lead, quietly slipping away to where the pups are. Mom joins me a minute later with a bag already packed.

"I don't trust anyone in that family," I tell Mom.

She just wraps her arms around me and kisses my head, "That family is finding its center again, and it's not the alphason or Alpha Jax," she says pensively. Then she smiles, "besides, I've been dying to see where your sister is living. We know she can't cook. I hope one of those males knows his way around a kitchen."

I roll my eyes. Typical, Mom.
