ACR - I'll ease it in, promise. Get you ready for your alpha's cock.

She texts back an eggplant and a ghost, and I have to choke off the laughter.

"Daan declared Cloe as his mate after his first shift. No one in the pack knows that Lyri is the true luna," Rhet says softly.

"They must be suspicious," The Beta snaps. He is still raging, but at what? Taking care of his brother, who is an adult? I think of Nico and Renee, at home withPapánearly absent.Papá, who may have cheated onmama.

"Even if they are, alphas are above suspicion," I say.

I touch my jaw, moving the bone back and forth. It's healing quickly. I glance over at the Beta. He's glaring at me with his one black eye.

"War," the Beta proclaims. Lyri protests. She wants to preserve the pack for the alpha-pup. Something passes between the Beta and I. An understanding.

Si, this pack will find violence. And LoboGris knows bloodshed well. Cold bloodlust is already racing through my veins.

I look back down at my phone and feel warmth chase away the ice in my blood. My Cassidy sent me a picture of herself. Caramel eyes dancing, her hair in a messy ponytail with curls tumbling out. She's sticking her tongue out at me in a way that she probably doesn't know makes me hard as a rock.

ACR - Buenota, I can show you how to use that tongue, too...

16 - Not a Loser

Matthew

"This is my brother, Matt, and our friend, Gio. Matt, Gio, this is Alize and Adriana," Cassidy pulls me over to the two females. Gio hovers, protective as usual, his eyes continuously scanning the people around us.

"Matt," Alize greets me cooly, but her manner is downright frigid with Gio. Just a look, a hard stare, and not a word of greeting. Gio, for his part, just nods his head in acknowledgment. I've learned that he's a pretty quiet guy.

"Hi," Adriana's expression is a bit warmer but wary to the point that I have to wonder if she knew I was coming to visit. I hold back a little, not wanting to overwhelm anyone, even if my wolf is wagging his tail at the thought of meeting new people.

"We go to the gym together," Cassie proudly proclaims.

I can't stop the startled look I give my twin. The gym? My Cassie goes to the gym? She was excused from PE class in high school because everyone was afraid she would hurt herself somehow. Mostly because she always manages to hurt herself somehow.

"I'm getting really good at it," she brags.

I catch the twinkle of amusement in Alize's eyes and hide my smirk. Although, to be fair, if Cassie can go through a workout without bruising herself, then I think it should count as a win.

I pull her close and kiss the top of her head. It's been a better couple of weeks. Dylan hasn't talked to me again. I think that Gio scared him off a little. Still, I'm so anxious. I feel him watching me, even if I can't see him. Kenneth is in two of my classes, and now Mason is in another. My nerves are wound so tight my wolf won't let me sleep at night. I'm hoping that by spending the day at Caluna with Cassie, I can settle down enough to sleep at night.

"So, what were we going to do today..." Alize says, discomfort in her eyes as she looks around campus.

Cassidy immediately captures my hand and pulls me along. "I was thinking we could drive out to the lake and have a picnic. Miranda and Rique may come by later. I'm not sure where they are now. Does that sound like fun?"

Fun? It sounds like heaven.

The lake is crowded. It's a beautiful day, not too hot yet. Smiling, I let Cassie lead me to the purple and blue checkered blanket. The wicker basket hanging from her wrist holds napkins and paper plates. She whispered it to me when I eyed it curiously because it's too small to feed a bunch of wolves.

Rique and Miranda are already there, along with a few other males and a very pale, small-looking female.

"Do you want to swim or eat first, Mattie?" Cassie says excitedly.

"Eat," my voice is joined with a chorus of others. My sister smiles happily at everyone while she unpacks the five coolers of food some of the males grabbed from the back of a pickup.

"This is José, Holt, and Enrique, not to be confused with Rique," Cassidy tells me.
