"Fuck!" Diego screams in pain. His shoulders sag grotesquely, both dislocated.

I feel the simultaneous wincing from my omegas in the next instant. "Enough!" I bark. I stomp over to Diego with ill grace. "Your pack has a worse reputation than mine,sí? I am not interested in your stupid claim on your sister, culero. That male has her," I point at a glowering Devel, "and will keep her." I ignore Leilani's huff of righteous indignation. "I wantmi hermanoand the blood of the Diamorte cartel on my teeth,sí?"

Diego looks confused as tears of pain leak out of the corner of his eyes."¿Su hermano?"he rasps.

"Bembe. His name is Bembe. He would have come to the Carabona four years ago. He is fourteen now."

Diego shakes his head, his body spasming from the aftershocks of pain. "No," he says hoarsely, "we have no Bembe."

"Is there anywhere else that fucker would send a pup?" Teague asks me in a low voice.

I growl softly. "Nico, come here."

Mi hermanowalks to me with proud, straight shoulders and trembling hands."¿Sí?"he asks quietly.

"Do you know of anywhereel bastardowould have taken Bembe?"

Nico swallows and shakes his head. "No, Carm.Su casa, maybe?" His voice drops lower and lower as he speaks. I clap his shoulder.

"Stay here." I look at the Beta. "Ready to askmi papásome more questions,Jefe?"

"Yeah, Punk."

"I'm coming with-"

"No!" I interrupt my female with my finger over her lips. Caramel eyes snap at me furiously. "You will park your sweet ass right here,Conejita."

She pouts against my finger.Diosa. I was right about one thing all my life, omegas are dangerous little things.

"Wolves tell her things," Mattie casually mentions.

Teague steps forward and thrusts a thick, meaty sausage finger into his own brother's face. "You make damn sure the pups stay here, yeah?" He looks around. "All of them. Shit!" He strides off toward the mines. "Young, stupid fucking pups," he mutters. "The whole damn pack."

I give Rique a significant look. The male nods. Reaching out, I grab a shaking Diego and follow the Beta. On my heels ismi Máma. I hesitate, but how can I not let her come with me? I meet two pairs of caramel eyes, and they both say the same thing; let her follow me.

Swearing under my breath, I keep dragging Diego to the mines.

"You treat your guests poorly, cabrón."Diego slurs.

"I protectmi familia, ojetes," I growl. He flinches, and his head bows a little more, and I feel rage spark through me. I lied, didn't I? I haven't protected my family. We walk into the mines and down the dark tunnel. Diego is snickering, either amused at how I treat my 'guests' or delirious from pain.

"We may be cousins," he announces.

"Are you?" Papa's voice rasps from the dark. "And who- Lily!"

Mi papa's face appears at the bars, blood, not his own, streaking and drying all over his body. From his hands curve claws, and his mouth is blackened from old, dried blood. He's been eating Hugh, but the slow, sluggish heartbeat from the prone figure crumpled in the corner of the cell lets me know that Hugh is still alive, for now.

Despite the monstrous appearance of mi papa,Mámahurries over to him. She unwraps a napkin in her hands and givesPapáa piece of cornbread.

"Gracias, mi Amor,"Papácroons to her. He reaches through the bars as if to caress her face, then thinks better of it. "You are well?¿Las bebes?"

Lily nods, but when Teague and I approach with Diego, she fades backward. Papa's eyes don't leave her figure shrouded in shadows.

"What did Hugh tell you about Bembe?" I ask him.

Without looking away fromMáma,Papáreplies, "I only got a name,mi hijo.Tu mámais eating? Juana is allergic to shellfish,si?Tus hermanaslike to have a story before bed-"

"Papá, the name," I interrupt him. Bloodshot eyes look at me briefly before returning toMáma. "My mates are omega," I snap at him. "Mis hermanaswill want for nothing."
