The bad news?

Seems every time we’re about to do what we both need most, my dad somehow just appears.

And right after telling Brandon I’m a virgin….

Crap! I hope it doesn’t put him off.

Are you kidding? You saw how he took it, it was like he’d just won the virgin freaking lottery.

I want him. And as soon as the word ‘virgin’ leaves my lips, I know I’d never give it to anyone except Brandon.

And there’s no time like the present, right?

But knowing it’s my dad who’s just pulled up out front, I’m serious when I take a rain check with Brandon.

And I’m equally serious about getting the heck outta here before my dad catches me with my pants down, literally.

I huff it out back and notice that as low as the fence between our place and Brandon’s is, there’s still no way my stubby little post-orgasm of the century legs are just gonna leap over it.

Staying close to the side of the house, I creep down through the darkness, figuring I can just wait until my dad goes inside, then duck across to our place without him seeing me.

But when I’m only a little way down the side of Brandon’s driveway, I can hear both of them clearly.

And there’s a part of me that’s just dying to know why dad’s back from his drive so soon, let alone calling on Brandon so late.

But the way the whole day and dinner tonight panned out it’s not hard to guess.

I’m no eavesdropper either.

Okay, so tonight’s my first foray into the art of eavesdropping. But I only wanna make sure that dad doesn’t know about Brandon and me.

Not yet anyway.

I’d hate for him to find out or reach his own conclusions before we’ve even done anything. But when it does come time for him to know, I want it to be from both Brandon and me.

It’s not a bad thing that’s happening, and I just wanna make sure dad can see that when the time comes.

For now, he’s all apologies. And although I can hear Brandon’s voice loud and clear crouched by the side of the house, my dad’s tone is muted. Softer.

Tired sounding.

“… It's fine, Steve, it really is,” Brandon says after hearing my dad say sorry for acting like a jerk for the second, or is it the third time today?

I’ve never seen dad so quick to apologize to anyone. But his behavior today has been kinda weird.

And I can see what his friendship with Brandon must mean to him.

“So, what’s eating you?” I hear Brandon ask him, almost accusing him. “It’s like you have a bug up my ass since I got here. C’mon, Steve. Out with it,” Brandon coaxes him, surprising me by being so firm with my dad.

And here I am shivering in the bushes, hoping dad doesn’t find out what we’ve really been doing while he’s been driving around.

It sounds like my dad’s pacing, the same way I do whenever I need to think. But it means I can only catch bits and pieces of what he’s saying.

But once it’s clear he’s not there to confront Brandon about me, I feel myself relaxing by degrees.

Dad’s real problem with Brandon, from what I can tell, isn’t a problem at all.

He’s just envious.
