Carter pinches the bridge of his nose like he’s annoyed by the lot of us. “She didn’t find Bea?”
“I don’t know if she tried. After I made her come more than a few times,” Adler gives me a cocky grin and I scowl in response, “she mentioned Alice had moved on.”
Brayden stiffens at my side. “Was Alice okay?”
“You’ll have to ask Raven. The reason I wanted to tell you all is because we’re pack. I’m worried about what happens if she continues to go to the Other World. What if there are bad spirits there who want to hurt her?”
“We’re not telling her she can’t go,” Draco cuts in.
“I wasn’t going to suggest that.” Adler gives him a serious look. “Do we need to be concerned about her?” he asks Brayden.
“Well, the Other World itself isn’t dangerous. There may be malevolent spirits there, but they’d have to find Raven to cause problems, and unless the academy has any more hidden demons, most of the other spirits will simply need help moving on.”
“Are you sure?” I ask him now that I see where Adler is coming from. “We can’t exactly go with her to keep her safe.”
“Think of the Other World like a giant box with compartments.” He holds his hands out like he’s carrying said box. “Each compartment is surrounded by four walls. Raven has access to this pocket,” he points to an imaginary section, “and the only spirits allowed in there are the ones at Bad Moon Academy.”
“What about her mother?” Draco asks. “She follows her, but she didn’t die here or at Lou’s house.”
Carter hums in agreement. “She’s not compartmentalized.”
“True.” Brayden moves to the middle of our group, and I keep my eyes up because I’ve just realized we’re all standing around naked, and I don’t want to peep his dick. Might give him the wrong impression.
“Some spirits anchor themselves to people rather than a place.” Brayden tips his head to the side and lifts an eyebrow at me.
Why do I get the feeling he can hear my thoughts? It’s almost like he’s daring me to look down. The fucking bastard.
“So her mom attached herself to Raven?” I cross my arms and squint at him, telling him toget fuckedwithout actually saying it.
His soft laugh makes me want to rip his head off, but we’re pack and Raven would probably kill me herself if I did that, so I resist the urge and look over his shoulder.
“If her mother has been moving with Raven, then yes.”
Adler does his growly mountain man noise. “She’s haunting her.”
“Yup, and she won’t leave until Raven faces her or forces her.” Brayden brushes his hair away from his forehead at the same time Draco does, and I slide my eyes between them.
Freaky fucks.
“Back to the compartments. So long as we are here, at Bad Moon, she shouldn’t be in danger?” Carter asks.
“As long as Death doesn’t decide to accost her in the Other World, yes.”
We all growl in response to that and Brayden grimaces.
“I should know if or when he arrives,” he says. “I’m attuned to him, so we will know if it happens.”
“But we don’t know how to wake her,” Adler points out.
“We’ll figure that out when the time comes.” Brayden waves his hand through the air. “Worst case scenario I summon him and tell him to take me back.”
“Like hell.” Draco snarls the words.
“Relax, brother. It’ll give Raven time to come back to Earth.”
“What happens to you?” Carter studies him.
Lifting a shoulder, he shakes his head. “I guess we’ll find out.”
