He laughs and looks at me. “Even in the supe world, Mondays are the worst.”
Blowing out a hard breath, I nod and kickstand my foot against the brick. “Though you have to admit, there is a pretty good end to this day.”
“Mmm.” He runs his hand over his scruff, eyes flitting around the room before returning to me. “What am I walking into?”
Smirking, I say, “Well, for starters, there’s going to be a lot of dick.”
Carter scoffs as he walks by with a towel secured around his waist. “I think he’s more concerned about what the ceremony means and how it works.”
“First of all, the ceremony does have a lot of dick, so, he needs to know about that.”
With a sigh, Carter tosses a scowl in my direction. “You’re being crude.”
“Oh, pardon me, would you rather I call it a penis?”
Adler snorts and presses his lips together to hide a smile.
“Shut up and tell the man what he needs to know.” Draco backhands my stomach when he goes by, grinning like a fool.
“Speaking of dick,” I say, raising an eyebrow at Adler who simply smiles harder. “All right, all right. So the ceremony is a big deal. Long story short, Raven is a luna, and now that she’s accepted that we’re her harem, it’s time to seal the deal.”
“You make it sound like a bunch of frat boys looking to score.” Carter pulls on his shirt and fluffs his blond hair with his hand. “What Everett is so eloquently trying to say, is that the bond between a luna and her harem—or pack if you will—isn’t officially formed until we complete the blood rite and consummate it.”
“Oh, the blood rite. My favorite.” Brayden makes a slurping noise as he steps out of the shower, foregoing the towel and strutting to the bench butt naked.
“Bro, put on some fucking clothes.” I give him a hard look, and he stands, closing the distance between us in two giant steps. Kicking off the wall, I cross my arms and narrow my eyes on him.
“You’ll be seeing a lot more of this later tonight, Everett. Maybe you want to touch it.” Brayden reaches for my hand, and I growl, shoving his chest and putting space between us.
“Knock it off.” Carter pinches the bridge of his nose. “If you guys fight, I swear I’ll junk punch the both of you so hard you won’t be able to enjoy the evening.”
“Rude,” Brayden says with a scoff. “I was only teasing our little alpha. He seems way too worried about my junk.” He grabs himself and winks at me. “Maybe he wants a taste?”
“Fuck you, dude.” I’m not into dudes even in the slightest, and he knows it. He’s being an asshole.
“Enough.” Adler’s tone leaves no room for argument, and my wolf snarls at me inside my head, begging to be let out to put the fae in his place. Turning his heavy gaze on me, he steps closer. “Understood?”
A foreign power, rich with promises of violence, crawls over my skin.
He’s strong.
Stronger than us?I ask. Not that I want to challenge Adler. I’m more than happy to stop messing around, especially if it makes Brayden put some clothes on. The question is more out of curiosity.
My wolf pauses for a few seconds then whines.I can’t tell.
Hm. Interesting.
I search Adler’s face then dip my head in understanding. “You got it, boss.”
Brayden cackles, but quickly shuts up when Adler starts for him.
“Easy does it, big boy. I’ll play nice.”
Adler releases a growl which has me wondering if he can shift into a wolf of his own, and sweeps his gaze around our small group.
“If what Carter says is true, tonight we swallow our pride and any grievance we may have with each other. The luna needs us to be united.”
“You’re goddamn right,” Draco says, yanking on a pair of ridiculous pants.
