“Yes, Erron. You don’t get to hide behind the alpha’s orders anymore. Now get up.”

He stands, eyes rounding. “What are you going to do?”

“Taking you out of here and forcing you to live life the way you’ve made your students do.”

Everett squeezes my arm, so I step aside so he can grab Erron by the back of his neck. Hauling the headmaster into the hallway, he shoves him toward the foyer.

“Start walking.”

I glance around the office. Soft whispering fills the air, making my spine tingle with unease. Jinx is near. Taking off after Everett, I use my supe hearing to make sure she’s not attacking him. All I hear is his and Erron’s footsteps. No condescending demon voice. I’ll take that as a good sign.

By the time I reach the end of the hall, they’ve stopped walking. A light feminine laugh fills the air, and I grimace. I round the corner to find Jinx standing on the first step. The tight bodice and flowing skirt of her dress screams regency romance.

“Well, well, well. Wherever are you going with my headmaster?”

Scowling and looking at Erron, I shake my head. Her headmaster. She’s no alpha. Regardless, she’s here and this works perfectly. He can now stare down the demon he’s made countless shifters face.

“Jinx, Erron. Erron, Jinx. She’s the one stealing souls.”

A small whine leaves his lips.

“What are you up to, Raven?” Those white eyes sweep over me, narrowing slightly. “The omega is off limits.”

I scoff. “Says who?”

Trailing her hand along the handrail, she steps off the stairs and onto the floor. “The alpha and I have an agreement. The omega is not to be harmed.”

Fine by me. My intention isn’t to get Erron hurt. He needs to witness what he’s doing. There will be no hiding beneath desks while his students die.

“That’s okay. He’s going to hang out with us though.”

Footsteps sound from the hallway upstairs. Jinx spins around and claps.

“Oh goodie. Our friends are awake, Raven.”

Everett and I exchange frowns. I didn’t even think about gathering the others. Jackson, the guy who brought me the clothes when I first arrived, bounds down the stairs, slowing when he sees us.

“I thought we had another week,” he says in a wary voice. His gaze bounces between all of us. “The full moon isn’t until Friday.”

“There’s been a change of plans, Jackson.” Jinx takes a step up. “Your time is up today.”

“No!” I shove luna power at the demon, but it doesn’t faze her. I should have known, but I had to try.

Jackson turns and hightails it, racing away from the soul sucking bitch.

“I do love it when they run,” she says on a wistful sigh. Tossing a glance over her shoulder, she winks. “Aside from you and your friends, there are fifteen other shifters in this building. Guess what happens once I take their shifter power?”

I’m guessing it’ll be a level up for her. That’s a lot of energy to consume, and judging by how much she had to take to get this form, she’ll be able to do a hell of a lot more than physically appear. I’ve never heard of a poltergeist demon, but Jinx is heading toward that. The more power she consumes, the more she’ll be able to mess with us. I don’t want her to get any more because she’s already a pain in the ass.

How exactly are you planning to stop her?Joan asks.

I’ll make her an offer she can’t refuse.

“Wait. Take from me. Leave him alone.”

Pausing on the stairs, Jinx slowly turns and eyes me curiously, tipping her head to the side.

“Please, leave him alone. You can take some from me.” And in the process, I’ll try to use the necromantic power to light her up.
