Well, do you need a snack?I’m really asking the voice inside my head if she wants a snack.

Obviously.

Okay, someone’s cranky. Though I can’t really blame her, she was drugged. We were drugged. Regretfully climbing out of bed, I toss on the hoodie Carter brought me over my shirt and slip on my Converse. I should probably put on pants instead of these sleep shorts, but I’ll be quick, and I don’t feel like yanking on leggings.

This place smells like death, she says.

Tell me about it. Thereareghosts here, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a few dead bodies lying around.

That’s disgusting.

I try not to laugh at her tone because we’re getting along, at least for right now.

There’s no one awake as far as I can tell, but there are a few snacks left out on a table in the cafeteria. I go to grab a granola bar but stop when she growls.

Do not feed me oats. The meat sticks will do.

Okay, no oats.I pick up a beef jerky stick then snatch three more off the table when she yells at me.

Good, this will hold me over until morning. You need to eat more or we will both wither.

Somehow I doubt that. I ate a ton of food today,I reason with her as I take the stairs to my floor. You should have seen the plate I had for dinner.

There’s someone in the hallway.

I tear my gaze from the floor and search the top of the stairs. I’m halfway up the second flight, and I can’t see what’s on either side of them.

Who is it?I ask, continuing up. She didn’t say they were a threat. I listen, focusing on my enhanced hearing. There, a soft heartbeat. Someoneisin the hallway.

The black wolf.

This time the growl which rumbles in my chest is loud. I turn toward my room, not surprised to find a shadow of a man leaning next to my door.

His name is Draco. I don’t know if I like him.I recall when he licked my blood, showing her the memory in my mind.

He is bold.

Why does she sound like she’s impressed? The memory was meant to make her understand my frustration. As I draw near, he stands straight and crosses his arms over his chest. There’s a flickering light a few feet away from him, and it illuminates the space enough that I can see he’s wearing all black.

“Draco, why are you waiting outside of my room?”

He lets his eyes trace over me. “I felt your wolf.”

As he should, I am strong.

And cocky,I add.

I do not know what cocky means, but I am a luna. Lunas are strong. Do you doubt me?

The last part of her words are growled, and Draco’s lips twitch when I make a noise of frustration.

I believe you. Let’s get rid of him then we can chat, yeah?

He is attractive.

“Yeah, he is,” I say out loud, then slap my hand over my mouth, nearly getting poked in the eye with beef jerky.

“He is what?” Draco lifts a dark eyebrow. “Are you two talking about me?”
