“I was going to say I can issue an exception for Blaze for the time being.”

Grayson drops his arm over my shoulder, pulling me to the love seat. “Good. Do you have your phone, Demi?”

“No.”

Mateo reaches into his pocket, pulling out his and handing it to me. “You can use mine.”

I take it, trying not to touch him, and stare at the lock screen. “I don’t know your passcode.”

“Three-three-six-four.”

Tapping it out, I scowl when I connect the letters associated with the numbers.

Demi.

If he thinks using my name as a passcode is going to mend things between us, he’s sorely mistaken.

Navigating to his contact list, I search for Blaze. When I don’t find the number, I glance at him.

He’s smiling. “Check under asshole.”

“Fitting,” I mumble.

Sure enough, a number comes up under that name. I press the call button and put the phone on speaker. It takes four rings for Blaze to pick up. There’s music blasting and at least a dozen people shouting in the background.

“Mateo, what do you want?” Saying he sounds less than pleased is an understatement.

“It’s Demi.”

“Oh, hang on.” There’s a scratching noise on the other line, then I hear him bellow, “QUIET.”

The obnoxious sounds cut off.

“Sorry about that, what’s up?”

He’s so casual after shutting down what is surely a shifter party.

No big deal, I’m powerful enough to tell a roomful of wolves to shut up.

“Remember the favors you offered me? I need to cash one in.”

I glance at Colt, who nods in encouragement then stares at the phone, willing the wolf to respond.

He’s silent for a second, but I hear a door open and close, like he went somewhere for more privacy.

“Before you ask, I can’t kill Mateo for you.”

I snort. “Noted, I think I can handle that.” Giving Mateo a pointed glare, I’m disappointed to see his lips twitching.

Does he like it when I kill him? If so, I’m going to have to think of another punishment.

“We need to find a way to the Underworld.”

Blaze releases a low whistle. “What business do you have there?”
