Chapter Four

Demi

I wake up the next morning, snuggled in Grayson’s arms. After wasting more time messing around last night, we made our way back home. Luckily Mateo was nowhere to be found.

Can’t say I’m disappointed by that.

Time has never been more valuable to me than it is right now. I couldn’t find Blaze using my super hunter radar last night. Deciding to sleep rather than rushing to find him probably wasn’t the best decision, but I don’t care.

Iris can kiss my ass.

Besides, there’s only one person I can think of who would take Blaze and try to pin his disappearance on me.

Gerry.

Which means I get to see Maria again.

I must have really pissed karma off in a past life. Or maybe this is payback for instigating all those fights when I was little.

Grayson’s lips brush against my shoulder. “You’re thinking too hard. You haven’t even had coffee yet.”

Turning in his arms, I clasp my hands behind his neck. “Who needs coffee when you’re a supernatural badass?”

“No one likes them cocky,” he says with a little frown.

“Liar,” I whisper before kissing him square on the lips.

He gives me a lazy smile when I pull back. “You’re cute.”

I wrinkle my nose. “Stop.”

“Make me.”

I am not fighting with him like we’re ten. I shove his chest and roll over, only to be yanked back against his body.

“Who said you could leave, little hunter?” His husky voice rumbles in my ear and my ass brushes against something big and hard. “Still feel like leaving?”

Biting my lip, I press into his hips and roll mine. “I guess not.”

Once I getout of bed for good, I shower, change into a pair of thick black leggings, a loose-fitting burgundy shirt which allows for ample movement, and strap on a few knives. Grayson watches me from the comfort of my bed.

“So what’s the plan?”

There are so many people missing, it’s hard to decide where to start. For selfish reasons I want to find my parents first, but Iris put a ticking clock on me finding Blaze. The sooner I get this out of the way, the sooner I can focus on finding my family, Alissa, and Lacey.

I crouch down to lace up my boots. “I need to get with Zander, X, and Tyra, but essentially we’re going to storm the castle and behead the king.”

Grayson runs his knuckle over his lower lip, eyes darkening to black.

“Put that lethal look away, Grayson. You can’t get turned on every time I talk about killing someone.”

He shrugs. “You can’t tell me what to do.”

Standing and placing my hands on my hips, I narrow my eyes at him. “Have you always been a difficult child or are you still trying to make me smile?”

Running his tattooed hand over his stubble, he breaks eye contact. “That obvious?”
