“I killed him more than once,” I say with a shrug. “Eye for an eye, right?”

Grayson’s blue eyes darken slightly. “This is the first time I’ve ever been annoyed with you, Demi, and it’s because you’re being stubborn. The situation tonight is entirely different than when you killed him.”

“How?” I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Well he deserved it. You didn’t.”

Damn straight. I expel a harsh breath. “Okay, I’m done throwing myself a pity party. Mateo is in the doghouse.”

Grayson boops my nose. “There she is.”

I smack his hand. “Don’t boop me.”

He reaches out to do it again. I grab his arm and twist while kicking his feet, effectively flipping him. Landing with a thud, he lets out a boisterous laugh.

“I like this version of Demi much better.” Grayson stands and brushes the wood chips off of his shirt.

“Oh yeah?” I move so fast I think I’ll catch him by surprise, only he anticipates it and flashes in the opposite direction. “Are you running from me?” I laugh. “What was it you said? Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.”

With a wicked smirk, Grayson flashes even further away. “Catch me if you can, Hunter.”

“Are you challenging me?”

The casual shrug he gives is full of cocky arrogance. He thinks he can outrun me.

“Don’t cry when I take your vamp ass out.”

“You’ll have to buy me dinner first,” he says with an indignant huff before disappearing from sight.

His last remark brings a burst of laughter out of me. I set after him, dead set on kicking his ass.

Grayson

Demi catches me in a matter of minutes and when she throws me onto the ground and straddles me, I stare at the smile on her face.

This is why I did it.

Her smile is worth so much to me and knowing I made her beam like this so soon after the drama of tonight makes my chest swell with pride.

She sits on top of me, panting and grinning like a fool. I can honestly say I wouldn’t mind dying like this. When she meets my gaze, her eyes narrow.

“I know what you’re doing.”

“Oh yeah?” I ask, tipping my head to the side.

Nodding, she leans forward. “You’re lucky it’s working.” Then she presses her lips to mine, sighing when I trace my tongue against the seam of her lips.

Her hands explore my body, squeezing my arms and running over my stomach until finally she rubs her hand over my hard on. I catch her lower lip between my teeth and she groans.

“You know,” I say, breaking away from the kiss. “I’ve never had sex in a park.”

“I bet we can fix that.” She flicks her hair over her shoulder and undoes my pants. “But I think I want you behind me.”

She doesn’t have to tell me twice. I yank my pants off when she climbs off of me. Then I help her out of her clothes and stare at her ass while she gets on all fours. Demi laughs.

“What’s so funny, tiger?” I kneel behind her, slipping a finger inside of her.
