“I think he would, if you became an official part of Blood Mafia.”
I consider her words. Am I not part of Blood Mafia? I’m bonded with the boss for Odin’s sake. Shouldn’t that count?
She grabs my arm and pulls me from the gym. “You’ve never pledged.”
“I shared blood with him… and Colt and Grayson.”
We reach the elevator and she smacks the button to bring it down.
“Yeah, but there’s plenty of people sharing blood who aren’t part of our family. Even the feeders pledge.”
Drawing my eyebrows together, I recall Mateo’s shouted words. He killed me to protect his people, because I’m technicallynothis people. Bond aside, there’s nothing tying me to Blood Mafia. I’m here by choice now. I can leave by choice.
Do I want my independence taken away from me?
Do you want to leave? Where would you go? Thisisyour home.
There’s the voice again, slapping me with logic.
“Don’t overthink it, D.” Alissa drags me into the elevator and hits number sixteen, a floor I don’t recall going to before.
The entire ride, all I can think about is whether or not I should pledge to Blood Mafia, and in essence, Mateo. Alissa said he’d make me la jefa… does that mean I’d be his to control?
