Two more vampires join them, lowly soldiers too stupid to realize they’re picking the losing side.
Colt and Grayson come to stand by me, ready to fight, but I wave them off.
“No, if they want to fight me for the rule of my city, I’ll kill them myself. I don’t need help to win this fight.”
While their assistance would expedite things, what everyone here needs to see is me ripping these vampires to shreds. They’re a little blood thirsty and their trust in me is wavering.
I’ll show them exactly where they can shove their doubt.
Unbuttoning my cuffs, I roll up my sleeves and get ready to fight. “Well then, who’s first?”
Thatcher waits for Alejandro to move. Alejandro shoves his friend before rushing toward me. His steps aren’t sure and when he’s within reach, I duck under his punch and place my hands against his stomach. Using his momentum, I hoist him up and toss him into the wall.
His body cracks the drywall and he thuds to the ground. Thatcher makes a run for me at the same time Alejandro shouts at the two vampires who joined them.
“What are you waiting for? Attack him!”
Thatcher runs straight into my foot. I flash a roundhouse kick, cracking his neck with the force of it. I do a back handspring away from the other two, placing Alejandro in between us.
He rushes toward me, seconds ahead of the other guys. I drop to a crouch, block his knee, then grab his ankles. With a quick jerk, I knock him off balance and stand, using him as a bat to smash into his friends. They fly into the crowd.
My people jump out of the way and shake their heads, doing nothing to help them.
They all know a funeral when they see it.
Jerking my arms up and over my shoulder, I slam Alejandro into the marble three times before I drop him onto the ground. I place my foot on his neck and glare at the two goons who were stupid enough to join him.
“Everything I do is for the Blood Mafia. EVERYTHING.” My shout is so loud it rattles the doors and windows. “I broke her neck to protectyouand this is how you react? She’s my mate and I killed her to save you all. If that isn’t keeping the Blood Mafia priority, I don’t know what is.”
I stomp on Alejandro’s neck, crushing his windpipe.
Turning to Colt and Grayson, I point at the other two. “Take out the trash.”
They flash to the vampires, killing one a piece and hauling all four of the bodies out of the room.
My eyes fall on a short woman standing by the door with her mouth open and looking thoroughly confused. Demi stares at me, unblinking, and I turn away, giving her my back.
She probably felt my rage through the bond and came to make sure Nix hadn’t returned. No doubt she heard what I shouted, and would have even if she hadn’t been here. I wasn’t being discrete.
I take a moment to look at my people. A few tip their chins to saywell done. No one seems keen to tell me I’m doing a shit job as boss now.
Expelling what little air I have in my lungs, I wave my hand to the door. “Meeting adjourned.”
They make quick work of leaving, and by the time I turn around, Demi’s also left.
I stare at the doors and run my hand over my stubble.
Fuck.

Demi
Well that escalated quickly.
When the bond stabbed me with Mateo’s fury, I didn’t expect to stumble into him destroying a few of his men who apparently challenged him. When he screamed that he killed me to protect them, a few of the vampires who noticed my arrival gave me sympathetic looks.
Luckily, I escaped in the crowd. Now I’m heading to see Zander. I take the elevator to level thirty-five and hop off when it arrives, strutting to his door and knocking on it.
