Avery searched Wilder’s face a few seconds.
“If this is what you need to do,” Wilder whispered.
“Yes,” Avery said, spinning to face Tensen and Rohan. “A civil rights case.”
“Then that’s what we’ll do,” Tensen replied, closing the file folder before him. “We’ll get the ball rolling.”

The following morning, Wilder strode into his office, only to find his brother seated behind his desk, sorting through his files. “What in the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Vaughn’s gaze flipped up for a split second before he continued reading one file. “I’m trying to keep things running while you’ve been out.Someonehad to.”
Wilder rushed forward, slamming both fists down on the top of the desk. “Youbastard!”
Vaughn frowned, glancing up. Eyes wide, he searched Wilder’s face.“What the hell did I do?”
“I know you’re the one…”
Vaughn’s frown deepened. “You’re going to have to give me a little more detail here.”
“The one who called the Guard.”
Vaughn eyed him, blinking. “Aboutwhat?”
“Avery…” When Vaughn appeared clueless, he said,“Abraham.”
Vaughn sat back in Wilder’s chair. His eyes narrowed. “Did yourealizehe was omega?”
“Of course not!” Wilder shook his head. “Trying to get usbotharrested? You won’t get ammunition from me.”
Vaughn’s face went blank. “Arrested?” He stood up. “Abraham’s been arrested?”
“Don’t act innocent. I know full well it was you who reported him.”
Vaughn shook his head, the frown deepening.“I did no such thing.”
“You’ve spent a lifetime one-upping me and creating chaos. This has your signature all over it.”
“I didnotcall the Guard.” Vaughn searched Wilder’s face. “I might cause minor chaos, that’s true, but I wouldn’t dothat.”
Wilder held his brother’s stare, suddenly unsure of his conviction. Either Vaughn was a better liar than he realized or the man was telling the truth.
“Abraham’spivotalin our investigation. Why the hell would I have him locked up?”
“Unless you’re involved in the embezzlement.”
Vaughn blinked twice, appearing stunned. “How little you think of me, brother.”
“Who else would’ve known he was omega?Who else?”
Vaughn skirted the desk and stopped when he was face-to-face with Wilder. “I don’t know, but it wasn’t me.” He waved a hand at Wilder’s desk. “You’re welcome for covering in your absence, brother.”
Vaughn stormed out and slammed the door behind him.
Left in the silence, Wilder’s mind spun, searching for an answer besides his brother. Had he accused the wrong man?
