Tears form in her eyes. “I should have told you how much I loved you our last night together in your truck. I should have begged you to marry me before you left for the military. Things would be so much different now if I had.”

I send Jules to the shower with plans to join her after I check the hours of any county courthouse within two hundred miles, but I didn’t consider that it is Sunday, and although I want nothing more than to make her my wife today, legally filing the paperwork doesn’t look likely until tomorrow.

I made us an appointment online for 9:30 tomorrow.
