The velvet box in my jacket threatened to burn through my skin. There was no time like the present. I got the box out and walked out to the balcony. I paid no mind to the outstanding view and instead focused on the woman who had my heart jackhammering.

Swallowing, I went down on one knee and held the box open. The diamond winked at me. I gulped back my nerves and blew out a breath.

“Violet?”

She turned, her eyes looking down. They widened. “Oh, God.” She pressed both hands to her face. “What are you doing?”

"Asking you to be my wife," I breathed, my voice shaky.

“Yes.”

My heart lurched. “Yes?”

She nodded quickly, laughing. “I'd love to be your wife, Shawn Hart.”

Dazed, I stood and slipped the ring onto her finger, then kissed her. "I had a whole speech planned."

“Oh,” Violet pulled back. “Do you want to do it now?”

I chuckled. “Later, when I have your legs wrapped around me.”

“Oh, Shawn.” She giggled and kissed me deeply.

My heart soared like the wind that danced around us, and all I could feel was the perfection of this moment and the promise of the life I'd share with Violet. Our forever would be filled with nothing but happiness.

The End
