In her eyes, I see the words she can’t bring herself to say. She’s still holding herself back, and that’s fine, because I will prove myself.
“It’s okay. You say it, when you’re ready. I can love you enough for both of us. It doesn’t mean I’m going to stop saying it, though.”
“Good, I like hearing it.” She says.
“Good, because I like saying it.”
Just like that, playful Brynn is back, pulling me into the shower with a smile on her face. And it’s the best shower I have ever had. ?
Chapter 26
Brynn
It took two hours after that sexy as hell shower to get away from Jasper and make my way over to The Sunrise Inn to talk to Lin. I find them in her office. Kade is sitting in the office chair, and Lin is on his lap. They’re so wrapped up in each other that they don’t notice I’m standing right in the doorway.
I watch them for a minute, and Kade has Lin giggling. They’re so happy, and I know without a shadow of a doubt I want that. I’m pretty sure Jasper is the guy who can give it to me. We just need to get there.
I knock on the door frame and smile.
“Brynn! Sorry.” Lin tries to stand up, but Kade won’t let her.
“It’s fine,” I wave a hand at them. “I was hoping to steal her away for lunch and some girl time. We need to catch up and talk about yesterday.” I say.
Kade looks hesitant, like he doesn’t want to let Lin out of his sight. After what happened, I can’t blame him.
“We can camp out in your room and have Jasper bring us lunch there.” I suggest.
Kade smiles, “I’d prefer that, if that’s okay. I’m still on edge after yesterday.” He admits.
“I figured. It took a miracle and a few promises to get Jasper to let me go and come here this morning.” I smile.
Even though, Lin and Kade’s room is right down the hall from the office, Kade still walks us to the door of their room and stands there to watch us make it safely inside.
“Have a good lunch, Goldie,” Kade says and kisses her on her cheek.
Once the door is closed, I collapse on the couch.
“This is going to be so much harder to do, when you’re living at your parents’ house next season.” I say.
“Well, we will just have to kick Kade out of the office, then,” Lin says and plops down next to me.
“You guys make plans for the house, yet?” I ask, stalling a bit.
It’s painful to think of doing more changes to those houses. We were almost unable to paint them and make them ready for vacation rentals. But now, they will get a full makeover. So many happy memories are in those houses.
Lin smiles and pulls her long, blonde hair up into a messy bun with the hair tie she has on her arm.
“There are two days at the end of July that no one booked. So, we blocked them out, and we’re getting the contractor in and making all the plans. Kade is even hiring a designer to work with them. So, they can get in to see the space, and we can tell them what we want., After the season ends, and the weekend after Labor Day, they’ll have it planned out and ready to go.” She says.
When our parents died, we both kept our parents’ houses, which are next door to each other. Renting them out, as vacation rentals pays for the mortgage on the houses and then some.
“Must be nice having a super-rich movie star husband.” I joke.
“It is, but it’s weird. I’m so used to watching every dime we spend, making sure every decision is profitable, and doing everything we can ourselves. It’s different now. Kade is good with his money, and he doesn’t spend it like crazy, but he does spoil me.”
Lin is the one thing he doesn’t care about spending money on. He’s a bit tight with money for anything else, but when it comes to Lin, he doesn’t think twice. Like making sure she had the perfect wedding dress.
“Good, I’d expect nothing else,” I tell her.
