She stops in front of the three-way mirror and starts swishing side-to-side, as I wait for her to say something.
“It’s the perfect dress.” She smiles.
“It is.” I agree. Then, she looks at the price tag, and her face falls.
“What is it?” I ask.
“It’s too expensive.” She says, and starts turning back to the fitting room.
“Lin, stop. Think about who you’re marrying. Do you think money is an issue?”
“Brynn, it’s over ten-thousand dollars!” She says.
“Well, we have payment plans, and I can see what discounts we might have.” Gigi tries to help.
“No, I can settle this,” I say, pulling out my phone and calling Kade.
“Hey, Brynn. How’s it going?” He says.
“She found the perfect dress, and it’s the first one she tried on. It’s beautiful and looks just like her mom’s, but she’s refusing to even consider it, because it’s over ten-thousand dollars.” I tell him, careful not to say his name.
“Put her on the phone.” He chuckles.
I hand her the phone, and she walks back in front of the mirror, as they talk, and Gigi turns to me.
“We have some great payment plans, and I can go look. We might be able to sell her that floor model with a huge discount,” Gigi says.
I just chuckle.
“Trust me, the money is nothing to her fiancé. It will be fine.” I tell her with a smile, but she still looks worried.
I didn’t notice the other salesgirl walk up.
“Gigi, don’t you recognize her? That’s Kade Markson’s fiancé.” She says.
Gigi’s eyes go wide, and she looks over at me.
“Really?” Gigi says.
I laugh, “Yeah, though to me, he’s just the annoying guy who will basically be my brother-in-law soon. At least, he’s taking over the social media of our businesses off my hands.” I try to play it off, but I can tell the girls are dying to ask questions.
“Keep it down, and you can have, until she gets off the phone to ask whatever is on the tips of your tongues,” I tell them.
They launch into the same questions we get from everyone. Is he taller/shorter/more handsome in person? What is he like? What did he think playing in this or that movie? How did he propose? How did they meet?
Finally, Lin walks over, and like promised, they clam right up, and she hands me my phone.
“Hello?” I check to see if he’s still there.
“She’s getting the dress. You have the card I gave you, right?” Kade asks.
“Yep. I’m glad she’s getting this dress. It’s perfect.” I tell him.
“Use the card for the dress. Also, make sure she gets a veil, shoes, and whatever else she needs or wants. Then, take her out to lunch, and go shopping for anything else she wants, okay?”
“I promise to spend as much of your money as I can get her to spend today,” I say laughing.
He laughs, too. “Thank you, Brynn. For everything.”
