My whole body warms at that comment, though I’m not sure what to say. I decide to tease him a bit.
“Oh, your kitchen, huh? Last I checked, it was my kitchen.” I smile up at him.
He leans down and kisses me, before smiling at me.
“But I am the chef here, which makes everything in it my responsibility, so that makes it my kitchen.” He says.
“Oh, really?” I ask.
“Yes, really. That’s kitchen basics 101, ask anyone.” He says.
I just shake my head. “You sure I’m okay here? I couldn’t seem to concentrate in my office today, but here, I’m getting a lot of work done.”
“I love having you here. Something about having you close calms me.” He says.
“That’s how I feel, too,” I tell him, and his eyes lock with mine. This is the closest I’ve come to telling him how I feel, and we both know it.
The dinner service flies by, and before I know it, they are finishing up cleaning the kitchen, and I can’t remember the last time I got so much work done.
“Good workday?” Jasper asks, coming to my side.
“Yes, I caught up on emails, and not only posted to social media for both Inns, but got posts scheduled for the next two weeks. I updated the website, caught up on the books, approved all the inventory reports, and pulled some design ideas for the villas.” I tell him, closing my laptop.
“Ready to get out of here?”
“Yes, but I’m thinking more of snuggling in bed than going out on the town,” I tell him.
“Perfect, because that’s just what I had in mind, too.” He says.
“Great minds think alike and all that,” I say.
Once in my room, I collapse on my bed.
“You sure I wasn’t in your way in the kitchen?” I ask again.
He doesn’t answer me, as he lies down beside me and rolls over on top of me, pinning me to the bed.
“I loved having you there, Firefly, and in fact, I’m going to insist you be there more often. If you were in the way, I would tell you, because I don’t want you to get hurt. I promise, you were in the perfect spot.” He says, nipping at my neck.
“Okay.” I gasp, as we start playing around.
He always knows how to take my mind off things and refocusing them. Orgasms do that.
Chapter 29
Jasper
I’m finishing up my weekly food order, when my mom calls. It’s been a few days, since I have been home to see her, and I instantly feel guilty.
“Hey, Mom,” I answer.
“I’m making dinner tonight.” She says.
In Mom’s language, that means I better be there, because she has something to talk to me about.
“I’ll be there Mom and will even bring dessert,” I tell her, trying to bribe her a bit.
“Sounds good. See you at six.” She says.
