“Now, why did you go on your date?” Lin asks.

“Because I was jealous Brynn went on a date. Trust me, I paid the price and was reminded why the ‘don’t date tourists’ rule is in place.” I shiver, and both Lin and Kade laugh.

I spend a minute and recount the night for them, so they have the entire story, because I’m sure Brynn gave them her side.

“So, you have feelings for her?” Lin asks.

“Always have,” I admit.

“You want another chance?” Lin asks.

“Yes.” No hesitation. That’s exactly what I want.

Before the talk with my mom the other night, I might not have been able to admit it, but my mom is right. You don’t know how long you have with the other person, so why dance around it. I want Brynn. I always have, and I think I always will.

“You’re sabotaging her interviews, so you have a reason to stick around?” She guesses, even though it’s more of a statement.

“I wasn’t intentionally at first, but yeah, recently I have been,” I smirk.

“So tomorrow, we start the work and planning with the contractor for the luxury villas we’re going to put up across the street. Brynn will be with us all day. Maybe, you could bring us lunch, and while there, give us some ideas.” Lin says.

“I’d like that. You can tell me more about the villas, though. I’ve only heard about them in passing. But tomorrow, will give me a good reason to stay around longer.” I wink.

“Mrs. Keller!” Lin says and sits up straight.

I look around for the old lady, but I see no one in sight.

“What?” Kade and I both ask confused.

“I’ve been trying to figure out who will walk me down the aisle, and I think it should be Mrs. Keller. Think about it. She helped out, after my parents died, she babysat me growing up, and was like a grandma to me. Besides Brynn, she’s the closest thing to family I have. I was thinking of asking Brynn to do it, but she’s also the Maid of Honor, so I was looking for someone else. Yes, I think it should be Mrs. Keller.” Lin nods.

I know that nod. It’s the nod that says she’s set in her decision, and no one will change her mind, so don’t even bother trying.

“That’s a perfect choice.” I agree with her.

Kade leans over and kisses her temple. “We can go talk to her tomorrow.”

“How’s wedding planning going?” I ask them.

“Perfect! We got the dress today, and the wedding will take place right here on the beach. Of course, you’re catering, and you don’t have a choice now.” Lin smiles.

“I’d be mad if you went with anyone else,” I tell her.

Even if Brynn and I weren’t talking, I’d be here ready to cater her wedding. Lin and I were friends growing up, and I had always planned to cater it. Though, I had thought my dad would be by my side for it.

“Well, I’m going to go relay that to my mom, or she’ll be mad at me, if she hears it from anyone else.” I laugh.

“Of course. Tell her she’s welcome at my bridal fitting, and I’ll let her know the date, when I have it.” Lin says.

“She’ll love that.” I nod.

I stand to go, and Lin gives me a hug, which I can tell makes Kade a little uneasy.

“Just be patient with her. She’s built up a lot of walls in the last five years, and it will take a while to break them down.” Lin says.

“I know.” I sigh and wave, before turning to walk down the beach.

I’ve been walking to and from The Sunset each day, so I can take in the water and give myself some thinking time. Today, is no different. I have a lot to figure out, like how I can win Brynn back. By the time I get home, I’m no closer to working it out than I was before.
