“You seem to have a slightly unhealthy fascination with those breeches,” Evie said.
“Oh, no, I do not have a fascination with those breeches. I do, however, have a tremendous fascination with your bum in those breeches.”
“Pardon me?” Evie’s cheeks were suddenly burning red.
“Come, you’ve never paid attention to a gentleman’s bum in his breeches?”
Evie’s lips twitched in laughter. “I’ll have to be honest, no.”
“Well, me either. But yours is enticingly plump.”
“Err… Why are we talking about my bum?”
“Why not talk about your bum? It is plump, soft, deliciously succulent—”
“Please, stop.”
Gabriel laughed huskily, and Evie’s skin erupted in pleasurable shivers.Oh, the devil.
“Why are we going to a gaming hell?” she asked, feigning exasperation.
Gabriel heaved a sigh. “Because it is time for you to practice your skills.” Evie raised a brow. “And because it’s about to storm, and I didn’t want you to spend the night alone.”
Evie looked worriedly through the window. “It is about to storm?”
“See, my distraction technique is working; you haven’t even noticed.”
“Not until you brought it up,” she grumbled.
The carriage halted a few minutes later, and they stood in front of a dark, ominous building with an iron door.
“Welcome to Hades,” Gabriel said with a flourish.
“It is not actually called that, is it?”
Gabriel nodded and smiled. “It is. Now let’s go in before it pours.”
