“Fuck, you are drenching the sheets.” His fangs came close to my ear. Rolling me over, not letting his cock leave my body, I gaped at him with excitement. “I like looking into your eyes as I come in you.” He panted.
His thigh muscles flexed above me, his arms going under my back and his hands pulling my shoulders to dive deeper. Goddess, he was so big, I still didn’t understand how he could fit.
“One more baby, one more.” I shook my head. If I came again, I swear I would sleep for a week.
“I can’t.” I breathed. He slapped my thigh, and the thrill of the sting had me push my breasts into his face.
“You will, for me, to please me.” He gritted his teeth. Biting down on my nipple and one hard thrust later, his load spilled into me, my body soaking up his desire.
Small kisses on my breast led to my face, and his once stern, immovable face softened, kissing my lips gently, he became my gentle giant once more. “Are you okay?” he murmured, kissing me, so I was unable to speak.
“Of course I am. I was made for you.” I chuckled. Hands running through his wet hair, he rolled over, pulling me to his chest. Laying my head on his chest, I listened to his heart slow. Kane ran his rough fingers over my back.
Wow, I didn’t realize how much I needed this.To give up the worry, give up the planning and what move we did next. Kane did it all for me and took control of our time together, so I didn’t have to think. It was refreshing and beautiful, and Kane got his fill.
“You have no idea how much that helps.” He sighed. “I’m sorry you have to put up with my ass.” Smiling, kissing his chest, I shook my head.
“It helps me too, Alpha,” I tickled his side. “It helps me let go. Take things slowly. It helps you feel in control when everything around us is… just not.”
Kane gently laid me on my side. He checked my wrists, kissing each one as I lay. He stood up to go to the bathroom, coming back with a warm cloth to clean my mouth and then between my thighs. I sighed happily. His scent surrounded me. The beautiful comfort of his nature smell had me humming in satisfaction as he crawled back onto the bed with a water bottle.
Pulling me up so I was half lying on his body, he made me drink half of the water before setting it on the nightstand. We didn’t cover up in blankets. We lay naked, feeling the fan above us cooling our hot bodies.
What I wouldn’t give for everything to return to the way things were. To have everyone live in happiness. No longer have the nightmares, the worries, the stress. Have our families come home and just be.
“Love, soon,” Kane mumbled. “I will fix things—”
“We,” I interrupted. “We will fix things.” With a kiss on my forehead, he laid my head next to his neck as I breathed him in.
Chapter Thirty-seven
Clara
Wesleptthroughthenight. No one dared to bother us. Everyone understood Kane’s mood wasn’t to be messed with, which had been a blessing for both of us.
August had more bad news for us this morning, which he refused to deliver. Raine pulled me aside, knowing that Kane was already thinking about the day’s preparations to travel and his worries about traveling in such a large group that was sure to gain attention.
However, the news would upset Kane either way because Vermillion was no longer. The palace, that was thousands of years old, had been reduced to rubble and ashes in hours. Taliyah and Jasper had nothing left except for the few thousand loyal subjects.
Jasper’s mind-link had been spotty when he talked to Raine. Various sentences were blocked, but she understood what he needed. Vermillion’s subjects needed help immediately. Marcus, who took over Kane’s duties for the night, allowed them to come to our territory.
Our pack territory now housed so many that we were bursting at the seams. I wasn’t sure how many more people we could hold. Sure, many were all hidden in the darkness of our thick forests, some even finding caves and underground burrows that were centuries old. Luckily, we were mostly comprised of animals and enjoyed spending time in nature.
Taliyah’s power had grown, and she could now cast large spells such as wards. Her promise to cast one so large to help protect our territory gave me hope that we would be all right. That was all I had right now, hope.
My body had taken a hit. I wasn’t sure if it was leftover black magic from the memory powder or if I was worrying myself sick. I had thrown up three times, my face was flushed, and my body was not healing as quickly. Giana had been mostly quiet, mumbling to herself.
Kane prepared the warriors, doubling up on patrols around the territory and taking up the help of Folen and his brother to help manage the large masses of people. Folen could whisper into the trees, able to discover if any rogues planned to come closer to our territory.
Taking a group of warriors with us, we began traveling to the Dragon Tribes in the Northeast. It would be at least a half day’s run with us all sprinting together. I was not up to leading the pack today like I usually did on these long runs, my body still weak from being sick.
Kane eyed me cautiously as we ran, noticing that I stuck close to his body. “Are you all right, love?”he linked. His four paws crushed the fallen leaves. I panted, feeling winded.
“As good as I can be,”I purred into the link. Kane didn’t believe me, but he knew not to ask. We were both caught up in our own minds about what we needed to do for everyone else. We were neglecting each other again.
Autumn had faded from the mountains, and snow gently fell as we traveled north. Kane’s anxiousness grew as he came closer to his former friend. Torin was after blood today. He was ready to settle the score. He snarled, shifting from his four-legged wolf to his half-beast as we approached.
Fortunately, we weren’t the only ones already on the scene. Kane held out his arm, pausing us all as we waited in evergreen foliage. Looking at the open area of Adam’s tribe, we saw the elders backing away from a heated argument. They were dressed in deep purple garbs around their waists. They were the oldest in the tribe. Supposedly the wisest.
