“Fates!” I cursed to the sky as lightning hit over the water.

Uriel came running back, hanging onto my torso. “C-can we go inside?”

Uriel’s touch calmed me, but not enough for the storm clouds to completely roll away. “It’s alright, bunny.” I smelled her hair. “The lightning won’t touch you; I won’t let it.”

Uriel relaxed, scratching her arms lightly down my bare back.

“And you reported this to Zeus?” I snapped. Athena’s slow nod had me grip Uriel tighter.

Once a goddess or god was summoned by Zeus, they would automatically be held in the Celestial Prison and could not roam until a trial was conducted.

“Alright.” My lips pursed into a thin line. “Anything else?”

Athena uttered, “no,” and stepped away from us. “I will send Hermes to let you know what else I hear. They have forty-eight hours to report to Zeus, or there will be genuine problems.”

Zeus seemed fine just yesterday. Why was he now out for vengeance? He seemed lighter, happier that he no longer felt the burden after Uriel blessed him. Something must have changed. Perhaps, Uriel’s power doesn’t last very long. Poisoning a god is a major offense, especially when dealing with minors. Not that she is any longer, but the plants still live there, cursing her body. The growth of my mate’s body was stunted, and her child-like attitude could likely be attributed to this as well.

“She’s coming down from the effects,”Athena spoke into my head. “Uriel should have the poison out of her system soon, but with her being kept away from people for so long, I’m not sure how long it will take for her to overcome her childlike nature.”

“I don’t want it gone.”I smiled at my mate. “I love her how she is.” Petting Uriel’s cheek, she nuzzled against me.

My mate is the Goddess of Innocence. I would expect her to have a lighthearted nature and be aloof to danger. Isn’t that where the ‘child-like innocence’ expression came from?

Athena smiled, waving her hand before the wind surrounded her, sand picking up as it engulfed her until she was gone.

My mate was going through changes in her body to help it mature, experiencing feelings she may not understand, and the bond was pulling us closer. This is when she will need me the most. I will need her as well. My anger flares when I am apart from her—even if she is just down the beach.

Letting her go when the storm clouds faded, she held up her bucket. “Check these out!” She pulled one out. “We should keep them and put them in our room.”

“Our room?” I chuckled.

Her face turned deep red, putting the beautiful shells back into the bucket.

“I think that sounds like a great idea.”

Pulling out each one, we sat them on the enormous blanket I had prepared for us. Her body glistened as the saltwater dripped from her suit. One drop trailed down between her small breasts. My tongue darted between my lips, wishing I could lick it straight off her body.

“This one is awesome!” She pulled out a large clam, still intact, flipping it from side to side. I chuckled as she studied it.

“Do you want to look inside?”

We both laid on our stomachs as the sun dried our backs. Uriel’s legs swung in the air in curiosity as I pulled out a pocket knife from the beach bag, gently slicing it open. Her eyes widened as I prodded the meat and revealed a beautiful black pearl.

“Wow!” Her body sat upright next to me. “It’s so pretty.” Staring at it in wonder, she prodded it with her finger.

Chuckling, I pulled it from the clam, handing it to her. “Not as pretty as you, bunny.” I kissed her temple.

I couldn’t wait to play with her little pearl.

Chapter 31

Uriel

“Here.”

Luci put the pearl in his palm with one hand, cupping the other over to hide the pearl. Light shone between the crevices of his fingers, so brightly it almost blinded me. Smiling, he lifted his hand to reveal the pearl now entangled by a dark, delicate chain. It wove in so many different directions, you couldn’t understand the pattern, just that it was one piece.

“Turn around,” he ordered.
