This was going to be damn near impossible to go slow now that I have gotten a taste.

Changing my thoughts back to Alana, my mood shifted completely. After leaving Uriel with Loki to check that Alana was indeed in a prison cell—she was. In fact, she was bound in chains with two guards on either side of her. I wrapped my fingers around the iron bars. Not once did she fight her restraints—or so the guards said. Alana’s head remained low as she knelt to the dark floor, letting herself sit in filth, succumbing to her future punishment.

Her eyes were dazed as she looked into her lap. My lip curled in the satisfaction that she was beaten so quickly, but how?

How could she be so broken, before I could even touch her? Did it have to do with Uriel and her touch? Surely, she could not wield my powers before our bond had been solidified. That was damn near impossible.

It is quite probable that her personality could mirror my own in some way, but mirroring my powers?Looking at my hands, I willed the hot ash to surround them, making them dark. Bits of ash crumbled as I willed them clean. This was something I would have to investigate further.

Hearing the click of the door, I stood up ready to take my shower until my angel came walking out of the steamy bathroom. Uriel’s hair was wet, cascading down the darkened t-shirt that reached her mid-thigh as she held up the pair of joggers I gave her.

“Um, they don’t fit.” Her small set of pale legs walked towards me. “And you kind of ripped off my panties,” she giggled, handing me the joggers.

Fuck.

Chapter 28

Uriel

Luciwouldn’tletmego back to my room. He said that since we are mates, we have to be close to each other now, especially after doing all that fun stuff we just did. Not that I minded, I liked being close to Luci. He was all warm because, I guess, he has fire in him. He is supposed to be some destroyer, and he is part of Hades.

My own little furnace.

Then, why the flowers would he need someone to warm his bed? Why does he need the heated blankets at all?

I shrugged my shoulders and climbed under the sheets with him. He made me scoot my booty right up next to him, and he wrapped his arms around me.

This was better than when Dad would come into my room and wrap me up like a burrito and call me his little enchilada.I snorted, thinking about that.

I hope I don’t snore in my sleep.

Luci’s arms were wrapped around me tightly. His heart finally slowed, and his breaths evened out; I figured he was asleep. Especially since, when I whispered his name, he didn’t respond. I pouted my lip because I wasn’t tired at all. After what we just did, I was ready for more of that fun stuff.

But he denied me.

That was frustrating.

The wind howled outside; soft rumble noises reminded me of the videos I watched of Earth going through storms. We were safe inside this massive palace, but I knew one person that would be so scared right now: Mr. Rainbow Farts. He was probably really scared. There weren’t any thunderstorms in the Celestial Kingdom. It was bright and happy and had none of this grumbling from the sky. Luci rubbed his cheek against my neck, causing me to sigh happily.

But I knew what I had to do.

Slowly wiggling free from his tight hold, I grabbed the pillow I was laying on. It still held my warmth, and I hope, that nice perfume that I found in the bathroom. It was like Luci knew I would be in his bathroom one day because he had everything for me!

Internally squealing, I tucked him in with the covers, careful not to make a sound.

Luci was so pretty as he slept—his angry lines faded, and he held a faint smile on his lips. The first day I met him, he was anything but happy. I am so glad he decided to tell me who he was to me. The tickles and tingles were awesome! Maybe in my heart, I would have found out on my own, but it was so much better that Luci was honest with me.

Sliding off the bed, my feet finally hit the floor as I pattered across the room. Every few steps I looked back to make sure he didn’t move. Giggling softly, I opened the door and dashed across through my bedroom doors.

You never know when a monster is hiding in the dark around here. Especially since we are in the underworld.

Grabbing Mr. Rainbow Farts, I scooted out of the room, gently closing my bedroom door. It was do-or-die now. The halls flickered with only a few torched candles, keeping the light way too dim for my liking.

Taking a step, my stomach loosed a battle cry that could be heard out to the stables. “Oops,” I whispered, pulling out my rainbow unicorn. I spoke softly to him, even though I knew he couldn’t hear me.

Sometimes it’s nice to have someone to talk to.

“I’m hungry,” I whispered, holding him tight. My eyes darted to Luci’s room and down the hall. The kitchen wasn’t too terribly far. I never got my dessert earlier after I told Luci, specifically, that I didn’t get my dessert.
