“So letme get this straight, you’re going to be on a real estate reality television show?” Evan asked as the two men stood outside on his oldest brother’s deck at the grill.
“If we’re selected.” Easton sipped the beer he’d been nursing for the past ten minutes.
The dinner with his brothers had been moved to Evan’s place instead of Eli’s because Evan said he wanted to grill, and he apparently still had oldest brother clout because Eli hadn’t argued with him. Easton was the only one who had arrived so far. After Grace left to go meet her sisters for dinner, the B&B seemed empty and too quiet, so he’d come here half an hour early.
Shayne had been happy to see him, Evan not so much. Easton had a feeling he might have interrupted a quickie they were having before company showed up, which was exactly why he wasn’t staying with any of his brothers. He didn’t mind being a cock blocker every once in a while, but he didn’t want to do it on a regular basis.
“What do you mean if we’re selected?”
“They are only casting teams.”
Evan looked up from the grill. “Who’s on your team?”
The most amazing woman I’ve ever met.
“Grace Wells, her sisters own Brewed Awakenings.”
Easton shook his head and he could tell his brother was not understanding what was going on and why Easton was even considering doing this. “A reality show? Why?”
“Why what?” Shayne asked as she walked out onto the deck through the bi-fold doors and handed Evan an empty tray to put the burgers on.
Evan lifted his spatula. “Why is Easton going to be on a real estate reality show.”
Shayne gasped. “You’re going to be on Home Sweet Flipping Home?”
“Maybe. We have to get picked first.”
If it didn’t mean so much to Grace, he would actually be hoping that they didn’t get on the show. Maybe then he could convince her to give him a chance, a real chance, now. But since he could see how much she wanted this, he wanted it too. For her.
Shayne’s face lit up with excitement. “That’s all we’ve been talking about at book club! Remember Evan, I told you that Lauren and Ben created that new program for beginner flippers and this show is going to promote it.”
Evan dipped his chin in an unenthusiastic nod.
Shayne didn’t let his brother’s lack of enthusiasm dampen hers. She clapped her hands together. “Who are you going on with?”
“Grace Wells,” both he and Evan responded at the same time.
He could see that his sister-in-law didn’t recognize the name.
Easton added, “Her sisters own Brewed Awakenings.”
“Oh, so she must be the lawyer? I thought she lived in LA.”
“She did. She’s moving to Hope Falls.”
He could see that Shayne still looked confused, so he said, “She’s had her realtor’s license since she was eighteen.”
“Oh, okay. And you obviously have a construction background.” Her face scrunched up once again. “But wait, what history do you and Grace have? How do you two know each other?”
Shayne wasn’t exaggerating when she’d said that she’d talked about it at book club. She probably knew more about the show than he did.
“We’re dating,” Easton told Shayne what he’d agreed to tell everyone. He and Grace were dating. Technically, they had had one date. They’d eaten food. They’d messed around. And they’d even spent the night together.
That got his brother’s attention.
“You’re dating?!” Evan repeated.
