“I’m not talking to you,” she says, not taking her eyes off me. “Mills, yes or no?”

“Yeah, I think you have to,” Millie says, her eyes fixed on me, too. “It’s the only way to make him go.”

“Oh, good Lord,” I say, throwing my head back. “When can we be done with this?”

“When you agree to go,” Raine says. “Which will be right now because I’m cashing in on our bet from St. John.”

I sit up slowly. I’m starting to get a little nervous. Raine hasn’t tried to collect on our bet in the almost eight months since she won. I was hoping she’d forgotten about it.

“The bet was that you get to set me up with someone. Not that I have to go on vacation with you.”

“I am setting you up with someone,” she says. “Someone in Blitzen Bay.”

“What the hell is a Blitzen Bay?”

“The name of the town where we’re staying for the next week. All of us—Mason, Millie, Alex, me, and you.”

“I’m not going to a town that has that stupid of a name.”

“So you’re welching on your bet?” Millie says, tapping her fingers on her lips. “I thought that was against our code.”

“I don’t welch,” I say, growling at her, “but you both know that wasn’t our bet.”

“I know nothing of the sort, Gabriel,” Millie says, tilting her head and smiling.

“Don’t try to use my real name on me. That only works for my mom.”

“Welcher,” Millie says.

“You don’t know anyone in Blitzen-whatever,” I say, glaring at them. “You have to have a real person in mind or I’m not going. I need a name.”

“No, you don’t,” Raine says. “All you need to know is that the person I’m setting you up with is in Blitzen Bay. We’ll figure out the rest when we get there.”

“That’s not going to work.”

“Wel-l-l-lcher,” Millie says. “Big, old welcher.”

I jump up and take two enormous strides until I’m hulking over her. I lock my eyes into hers with my best alpha-dominant stare. She stands on the couch—so we’re the same height—and leans toward me until she’s about an inch from my face.

“And don’t give me that sexy look,” she says, kissing my nose. “That bullshit doesn’t work on a woman unless you’re sleeping with her.”

I press my lips together and growl to try to stop a laugh from escaping. It doesn’t work.

“You’re a piece of work, Millie,” I say, shaking my head.

Raine grabs my hand and tugs me down onto the couch. “Let’s talk about what you should pack.”

Millie plops down and takes my other hand. “Swim trunks and hiking boots to start with and probably something casual-cute in case we want to go out one night. Right, Raine?”

“Definitely, but more mountain-cute, than city-cute.”

“I hate both of you so much,” I say, looking up as Mason walks back out. I close my eyes and tilt my head back on the couch.

“Did you finally cave?” he says, laughing. “It was inevitable, man. Nice effort, though. You lasted a lot longer than I would have. Millie’s bad enough. Add Raine to the mix and I’d be done before they even started in on me.”
