Chapter Twenty-Four
NOELLE
December 23
Blitzen Bay, California
“Oh my God, Kitty! What are you doing here?”
When I wake up, Kit’s crawling under the blanket with me. For a second, I thought it was Nash. I fell asleep with my face buried in his pillow. His scent transported me into a very sensual dream about him. I’m still sweating a little bit as Kit snuggles down with me and covers us up.
“Just coming to check on you,” Kit says, kissing my forehead. “It seems like kidnapper is taking good care of you. Wait—”
Kit pulls back the blanket and points to my bare legs. She points at Nash. “Did you not have pants she could put on?”
“I left her in my room and told her to put on whatever she wanted from my clothes. If she’s not wearing pants, that’s on her.”
I pull the blanket back over us. “Stop, Kitten. His pants are way too big for me. And this shirt almost comes to my knees.”
“Hmm. Okay,” Kit says, rolling her eyes. “I wouldn’t blame you if you were trying to seduce him. He’s really yummy. I mean look how big he is. You know how I like that.”
“Oh my God. Please stop,” Nash says as his face starts to blush. “Elle, do you want your salad?”
“I’m not hungry yet, but thank you. I’ll get it later.”
Kit motions Nash over to us. “You know, Nash, you can join us if you want.”
“Hard pass.” He picks up his lunch and grabs a beer out of the refrigerator. “In fact, I’m going to eat on the porch, so you two can have some alone time.”
“Okay. Hurry back though.” Kit blows him a kiss as he walks through the door. “I’ll miss you!”
She sits up a bit to look at him.
“Oh my God, Elle. Why didn’t you tell me how hot he is?”
“God, he’s so hot, right? I thought maybe I was imagining it.”
“You’re not imagining it. He’s just a fine, fine specimen of man.” She sinks back under the blanket with me. “So, did he get wet when you were sledding? Did he have to take any clothes off?”
“Unfortunately, no.”
“So, you’ve only seen him fully clothed?”
“He took off his sweater but he had a T-shirt on underneath. I’m not sure I can see much more without passing out. His arms are huge. I mean, seriously, I’m starting to sweat right now thinking about them.”
“And, you know his chest has to be beautiful.”
“Gahh. Stop,” I say, burying my face in her shoulder. “The last thing I need right now is another guy to worry about.”
“Who says I’m looking at him for you? You know how I love man muscles.”
“Did you forget about Mateo? I thought you guys were getting serious.”
“Yeah, we are.” She sighs loudly. “He definitely has me all lovey feeling. I can’t wait for you to meet him.”
“When he answered your phone that one time, I almost fainted. His accent’s so sexy.”
“Right? Like I could legitimately listen to him read out of a dictionary and get hot.”
