“If you don’t think he’s the guy, why do you think he’s running?” Butch says.

“That, I don’t know. And he might not even be running from us or running at all,” Mille says. “His wife might know. That’s the reason I’m going over because she says she’ll only talk to me.”

“Why do you think she’ll only talk to you?” I say.

“Who knows? She told the agents on the ground that she knows me, but we barely met in Sarajevo. Maybe, she’s just intimidated and thinks I can help her in some way. Or maybe Amar told her to ask for me before he disappeared. I guess we’ll find out.”

“So, are we here to protect you?” Hawk says to Millie.

“No, you’re here to grab Amar if we locate him—”

“We can do both,” I say as I tighten my arms around her.

After Raine briefs us on a few more details, everyone settles in to get some sleep before we land. I grab a few blankets out of an overhead compartment and cover Millie up. She’s already sound asleep on the couch. I hesitate as I start to crawl in behind her. I look back at Raine who’s still working on her computer.

“No one cares, Mase. Seriously,” she says, smiling. “It’s just the five of us. We’re family.”

I nod as I curl up behind Millie and spoon her to me. She wriggles back into me as usual. This might be the best assignment I’ve had in my entire career. I could get used to it.
